Basketball next year

Who's gonna take over after blosongame is gone. Didn't realize Holmes was a senior till last week. So we'll have Mitchell, Reid, Thomas, and then there's granthom who I thought was on like his 5th year. Anybody coming next year or that's on the bench thats gonna put up 15 pts a game or that gonna be the team leader.

Mitchell and Reed will be as good of a guard combo in the league next year. Grantham needs to progress instead of regress. Thomas must play defense and stay outta foul trouble because we will be thin down low. David Scara is a guy who can play the 4 but is not a typical big man. Devoe will probably be the starter at the 2 even though reed will get he most minutes. Scott Spencer will play some minutes at the 2 or 3. Legend Robertin will have to play some minutes at center but is not very skilled. Ty Hudson will be the backup PG and can provide some back court depth.
Our success will depend on the development of Thomas as a defender and Robertin as an all round player as well as Mitchell and Reed leading and staying healthy. Will be a huge bonus if Grantham and Devoe steps up

The incoming frosh class will have to provide some quality minutes. I would not be surprised if Hudson doesn't transfer and we go after another forward/center from prep or juco ranks. Gratham is going to have to step up his game to average at least double digits to be effective as a senior. Thomas has all kinds of potential if he can learn to better play under control and not foul.
CBB needs to hear politely but firmly from fans that his has to make the NCAA or he faces being dismissed. His tenure has to show real progress or else.
Go Tigers!

Grantham lost his shot for some reason.

Announcers even pointed out yesterday that he passed up a wide open 3 to pass into traffic. He needs to rebuild his confidence during the offseason. Agree that he could be as good as Bloss.

about basketball stuff, but I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding Grantham. His play has been down this year and certainly his production, but he still gives it all he has and is one of our hardest working guys. He also cares about winning as much or more than anyone. One of the reasons BB continues to play him is his work ethic and defensive effort.
Anyways, just my thoughts.
Go Tigers!

Very good analysis, easleytigr! Our guard play will be critical and the development of a big man in the middle.

Gabe DeVoe can average 15 points a game next year even if he has to come off the bench to do it.

David Skara may surprise. I'm surprised Spencer hasn't made a splash yet but one of the Freshmen may contribute.

One thing to note is he also has his best recruiting class IMO coming in next year.

i think the team will be much like this year's

decent to good to very good on offense... with some defensive question marks
Mitchell, Reed, DeVoe, and Thomas have all shown they can score Grantham can score too, if he gets his confidence back... would not surprise me to see see a 'small' starting line-up of those 5
will need more consistency from Grantham and DeVoe
will be interesting to see how Skara can contribute and if Robertin can help out inside
As others note, may need some quality minutes from the freshmen

Also, a couple of these guys may be ready too.

A.J. Oliver SG 6ft 4 Aamir Simms PF 6ft 8 Clyde Trapp SG 6ft 5 Malik William F 6ft 8
A couple of these freshman will be ready to contribute immediately. And of course we have Skara at 6ft 8 as well who is ready.
The good news is that we lose 3 guys, but we add 5. My main worry is PF. If Mitchell goes down our season seems over. Hudson as of now is terrible. I would trust Reed with the ball before I would trust Hudson at this stage, but we need Reed at the 2. I wish Holmes had one more year. Anyway, I am looking forward to next year. We could be really good. There is no telling.

I think Oliver has been on campus with the team this semester.
He should be ahead of the other Freshmen.

What exactly has Hudson done for u to make that statement?

In 17 games he has a total of 7 turnovers and only 1 in ACC play with 9 games played. He comes in to provide depth at PG and hasn't done anything wrong.
As far as the freshman coming in, I see Trapp and Simms getting minutes early. I don't think you'll see Oliver in his first year. I don't know enough about Williams

he is super uncomfortable, put up some serious bricks, and those turnovers were ugly. Moreover, I watched him in HS as well. He just isn't that good, or hasn't been. I am sorry that is what I have seen so far. I don't mind you seeing something different though. To me, he is not ACC caliber yet. That said, he is working his butt of for sure. He may improve a bunch. It happens. All I can tell you that is if we are banking on Hudson as our PF if Mitchell goes down, if Hudson is who he has been, then it is very bad situation. The thing is Mitchell hasn't been hurt and Hudson can improve.

Watched Clyde Trapp play Wren in the state title game. At 6'4, he played well, I don't think I saw him attempt one shot beyond 15 feet. Has good athleticism. AJ Oliver can shoot and has a nice feel for the game, but quickness and athleticism is sorely lacking. I've never seen the other guys live. On their highlights they look like they could be contributors after a couple of seasons. I'd be happily surprised to see any of the four give us substantial playing time and production next season.

Actually I think it'll be Malik William. William is a PF. Simms is a SF. I think the SF rotation will be Grantham/Devoe. The only newcomers I see realistically getting PT next season is Skara and William because of our glaring need at PF and C.

Simms can play both forward spots, he's listed the same height as William but is 15 pounds heavier.
I think he will be rotated between the two depending on matchups, etc.
