He’s schemed guys open all day down the field, Cade just doesn’t see the field or is incapable of making the throws. Even with pressure on him he has to throw his guys open and know the routes.

And that’s not how football works, especially with a bad OL, a high level QB throws them open and has to with bad OL play. Cade isn’t capable of that and that’s abundantly clear after a year of starts.

today, at least, that Cade is getting more comfortable in the pocket and moving to areas that open up around the pocket that gave him more time to look for his receivers and resulted in more open running lanes for him than what he'd been doing previously... running sideways and getting chased down because college boys are faster than high school boys.

Especially in the 4th quarter, that gave him options that the "old Cade" wouldn't have had. I hope to see even more improvement before the 1st game in 2024.

I also feel this is the case for most games this season. It’s the same thing every game—makes some good plays, makes a couple disastrous ones, and misses open receivers.

Hopefully a full off season with GR will help him, but he’s got to make better decisions and make them faster. Too many dudes running around open.

That would be easier to do if we had anybody pushing him in the QB room. We are now down to an undeveloped 3*, a walk-on legacy, and a GA that has a year of eligibility left if needed. Not looking like we will see great strides in QB play. Having said that, with Luke coaching the OL we may see more explosive running plays which will open the play-action and make it easier on Cade to hit a big play. Even though are RBs have put up decent total numbers, they are Clint causing safeties to creep up because of the lack of home run ability.

It’s both ppl.

Cade is often too slow to get the ball out on time.

But the OL is a hot piece of ####. No way around that. Cades development has been curtailed greatly by playing behind that group.

A lack of running game is not helpful to cade either.

Part of the running game struggles are due to going away from the read option because Cade cannot run the ball and is terrible at said read option.

I hope he improves but I am leaning towards another DJ situation unfolding before our eyes. At least Cade can hit the short passes I guess.

5 of 6 were on him? I have a feeling that's not the case but I will go back and rewatch as well. Wish we could get an all 22 type tape. If you're correct that's insane, 3 seconds and he didn't hit a checkdown either when he was throwing them pretty quickly all game. You can tell Cade and the OC don't trust the OL via playcalling and how willing the QB is to throw a 2-5 yard route off the rip.

OL was complete garbage today.

Luke got his work cut out for him. First up is put the 10 lbs per lineman that came off this past summer back on each O lineman.

We r lucky UK was rushin 3 a lot on our last drive.

Cade will be well above average with an above average OL.

That said some guys are gamers and don’t show out at practice. I almost want to see what he is, but it’s a fine line the second you go to him, Cade likely checks out. Is it worth it to see if CV is a gamer and maybe lose Cade? I tend to think so as Cade won’t ever lead us to a natty, that is 100% clear.

Cade does hold the ball way to long and only seems good when he knows pre-snap who he's throwing to. However, GR sometimes forgets how our bread is buttered. On this particular team Mafah has to get touches. Him having only 11 carries (4 of which were TDs) and averaging over 6 yds/carry is mind numbing.

I mean I feel it’s a combination of a lot of stuff. There were some plays there wasn’t anyone open. The series we kicked the field goal to make it 19 to 21. 1st and goal from the 7. Briningstool seemed to be the only player the run a legitimate route. He stepped out back of the end zone and Cade just throw it away over his head. Next play call was a qb draw that didn’t gain any yards. Followed by a sack. Great play calls up to that point. But those 3 plays were awful. I also saw Cade escaping the pocket and miss a open Stellato way down field. Maybe he figured he couldn’t make the throw. Overall he fought his butt off and led us on a game winning 2 min drive.

This is something I believe video games and Patrick mahomes and guys like Watson have ruined football fans with, if a QB gets forced off platform and has to run opposite a guy running free it's not a good decision to try and make that throw for 99% of QBs.

If Cade throws that ball in an open spot 1.5 seconds sooner its a TD

That a the problem, Cade waits until he sees guys wide open, he doesn’t throw anyone open. JB ran the route and had nothing to do because the ball came out so late.

100% correct. I was screaming at the TV as soon as I saw Briningstool release on the route. All Cade had to do was lob it out in front of him and he runs under it with nobody near him. Instead he waited on the LB to drop back and close the window.
