I spent yesterday thinking about my children who are all still struggling with their mother's passing. I tried to remember special things about them when they were very young and acted quite normal. They are anything but that now but they still have one attribute which a father loves.

Although this happened to all of them one child and one event turned out more memorable than the others. We had this running joke in the house back 35 or so years ago. I'd watch a ball game or something and sit in my recliner drinking tea. The joke was that when I shook the glass and rattled the ice my wife should bring the tea pitcher to me and fill my glass.

Sara, my daughter went to the kitchen, opened the fridge door and got the tea pitcher and brought it to me. She was carrying it with both hands and sure enough tipped it far enough to spill tea.

She looked at me, saw me looking at her and I saw the stress on her face. I said, 'It's OK, honey, you did your best, thank you.' It reminded me of a Bible verse, Ephesians 5:

"1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;..."

We fail God everyday but when we are trying to please Him He is never disappointed with us, even if we spill some tea.
