Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Sep 6, 2022, 7:41 AM

Friday night, went to Shoeless for beer share. Good times.

Saturday, did a little tool shopping then back home to watch football all day.

Sunday, slept in super late, didn't get much done. Afternoon and evening was spent at yet another beer share.

Monday, did a little more shopping, along with everyone else apparently. Getting out of Cabela's on Woodruff looked like Christmas. Got home, set up the new projector outside for the game, worked well until 4th and goal then the wifi strength crapped out, Speed test showed less that 1 mbps so I gave up. Finished the game inside. Got some work to do but I'm not clamoring for Cade just yet. Wouldn't really want to run him out behind that O-line.

Friday night was ok. Saturday spent all day in Conway

Sep 6, 2022, 7:44 AM

for daughter of's birthday. Went to the Coastal game. Was fun but tiring.

Sunday: Had a family get together for daughter of's birthday. Then left for the river house where I drank waaaay too much that night.

Monday: Up early and powered through an early morning work while hung over AF. Came straight home and didn't get out of the bed until yesterday evening.

Nashville for a wedding

Sep 6, 2022, 7:44 AM

Nashville was a let down of sorts

Yeah it was fun to see the bachelorette parties everywhere you looked

The first music I heard from a band on Broadway was Ozzy

The first bar we went into had DJs

The country music hall of fame was really cool

Maybe expectations were a little high, but I didn't see the musical draw that I was expecting

I'll just hang out on upper king next time i want to see bachelorettes and DJs

Labor at the pool for the last day of summer

Broadway isn't a terrible thing to have there if you're

Sep 6, 2022, 8:47 AM

going to a show at The Ryman. As a visitor to Nashville, I have no qualms with strolling around there for an hour or so in prep for a Ryman show. If I lived there and could avoid it, that's a whole 'nother thang. That said, I've done Broadway enough in my lifetime that's it's not WHY I'm going down there. And, it's far worse now than even the sketchy pre-gentrification days when you had to worry about fighting a homeless drunk to get back to your car. This modern age of corporate celebrity bars has pretty well run what made Broadway Broadway out of town altogether. Unfortunately, that seems to be the evolution of great tourist attraction areas. You're seeing that exact thing happen to Austin, TX. What made Austin great has drawn the attention of the corporates who are eager to change it for the sake of profit and at the same time, effectively killing what drew people there to begin with.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bingo, take Printer’s Alley for instance.

Sep 6, 2022, 8:51 AM

Corporate hospitality chains have spent hundreds of millions to buy legit dive bars, raze them, and build new modern boutique hotels with ground floors that are supposed to feel like…..dive bars.

we didn't get in until 9-ish on Friday night and were meeting up with some friends. We stayed at the Omni, so walking broadway made sense, especially for 4 first timers

Being tied to the wedding on Saturday in Murfreesboro kinda limited our time in downtown

We left early Sunday (8:15 to get to airport)

Saturday was working some, and then yard work.

Sep 6, 2022, 7:54 AM

Sunday was grocery stuff and then party at the lake. Swam, 3ish beers, and bbq chicken, sausage, rice and hash, Hawaiian rolls, coleslaw, mac n cheese, green beans, pasta salat, and nanner puddin. Then home to sleep. Monday was work maybe 2/3 workday, then game prep and Clemson game.

Friday left work early to meet the fridge and dishwasher delivery and install guys

Took advantage of the time to cut grass

Saturday piddled around the house and watched football

Sunday usual stuff

Monday went into work. I like days when I’m the only one around to get all the little things done that don’t seem to happen when everyone is there.

Sep 6, 2022, 7:56 AM

Friday, long visit with RH Mom, came home and ate, played some bass, and watched AEW.

Saturday, chores a-plenty, watched 2nd half of Chase Brice vs. UNC with Mom, made grocery run. Home to cook ribeyes smothered in sauteed hatch chilis and onions. Flipped through football games.

Sunday, lazy morning, left for Matthews Alive Festival in Matthews, NC. Wandered the arts vendors for a couple of hours then settled in and watched the Contagious Blues Band set and then Smokey Jones and Three Dollar Pistols set. Back home around 8 pm, tossed in some frozen pizzas and watched Walking Dead.

Monday, very moist outside so didn't really do much. Made a run to the liquor store and a couple of other errands with Mrs. Long visit with Mom and Joonyer, then home for Pad Thai and the game.

Got some things accomplished and relaxed a lot (other than 3 quarters of football last night), 18.85/19 Covids.

Friday - Stone IPA ( RIP celtic), good dinner, crashed.

Saturday - eats extraordinaire. I pretty much live blogged it. Bud Light at the pool. 1664 while sous cheffing. Rose with the swordfish. Watched a lot of football I didn’t care about.

Sunday - F1. Futbol. Online church.Mostly rested though.

Yesidee - a washout weather-wise but at least got some good work done, did some house projects, watched the dawning of the CK Experience. And feel OK dis mawn. CK put a spring in my step that DJU cannot.

Good parts, bad parts...

Sep 6, 2022, 8:06 AM

Fri - home late from work and tired...don't remember much else

Sat - sis-in-law and niece came up from Charleston. Wife-of and son-of met them in Greenville for lunch and exploring and daughter-of and I stay home. Did some chores around the house in the morning, fixed a broken drawer for son-of, that looked simple but ended up being a PITA. Watched football with daughter-of on the couch. She loved the end of the UNC/App St game and really got into it. Was a fun day. Had planned smash burgers on griddle for dinner, but due to rain did them in cast-iron pan...good but not the same.

Sun - lazy rainy family day. Wife-of took everyone bowling while I stay home for some peace and quiet. Dinner at Fuddruckers.

Mon - breakfast at waffle house. Guests left, got caught up on a little work work, more chores, took daughter-of and friend to Messican for lunch. Then got a txt from our HR mgr that there had been a shooting in Hartwell 2am Monday morning and one of our production employees was believed to have been shot and killed and another employee who was with him was missing. The employee that was shot died yesterday afternoon. He was 25. The other employee was no shot and is ok. Sounds like it was a fight in a club and the shooter(s) were kicked out...went home and armed up and shot the other parties to the fight as they were leaving the club.

Watched game...for all of the talk about DJ's performance, he played better in the 2nd half than he did in any half last year...which is not a very high bar. His stat line would have looked a lot different had there not have been 3 drops that were very catchable and really good throws deep.

Sep 6, 2022, 8:22 AM

Friday: met some frans at the clubhouse across the street. Had cocktails. Came back to house with a few of them, had more cocktails until 11 or 11:30 when they left. Had a few more myself after they left, in addition to some drunken monkeysex WITH ANOTHER ACTUAL HUMAN.

Saturday: lick some wounds, make it over to buddy's house to watch 3:30 games, drink lots. More people show up, play cards and watch foosball, stayed up too late.

Sunday: went on fran's boat that he just got, he's a rookie so we needed to see just how bad/acceptable it was before thinking about bringing the kids along. Put in WAY up the Ashley, so it took hours just to get out to the harbor. Choppy af, but made it to Red's, had some dranks, great people watching. Hit up sandbar on the way back, 'nother couple hours to get back upriver, was probably 8:30 and dark when we pulled out. 9+ hours on water is too much. Sunburnt af.

Monday: sunburnt af, made a good brefiss, put some hamberders on the Blackstone, debated going to watch game with some frans but made the executive decision to stay put because still tired af. Good call. Cade looks like the real deal from the very small garbagetime sample size we have, but comforting to know he's available, because DJ is going to be noticeably better this year than last, but he's still gonna struggle in some games, too.

Gonna go take the mutts on a long walk and start cleaning out the liver some.

Sep 6, 2022, 10:36 AM

those guys. The 1800hp boat was called "La Mexicana", and it didn't take long to spot the owner. He had curly hair in a ponytail and a full tat sleeve on an arm and a leg. He very much looked like a cartel hitman, and very much had the boat that could outrun a lot of the Coast Guard before the choppers got there. He was a fascinating watch, and I wanted to know more.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Theye were there at least 4 hours.

Sep 6, 2022, 10:51 AM

They were there when I left, and when I came back.

I was talking to a friend yesterday and we were talking about the gas that boat uses. Sunday, I put in 25 gallons of gas--about $110--before I went out. That will probably take me 2 weekends of heavy use to run out. My engine (200 HP) will use ~20 GPH at wide open throttle (WOT).

That boat we saw at e Red's has 4 engines, that not even at WOT (just cruising) use ~100-125 gallons per hour (~25 GPH/engine). He'll run out the gas I bought in about 15 minutes.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As I understand it, cartelling pays pretty well.

Sep 6, 2022, 10:54 AM

He probably doesn't even bother with the math around boat costs.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thats what my buddy said.

Sep 6, 2022, 10:58 AM

Gas in my boat is one of the least of it's costs.

Each of those 450' are about $60K. He's got more in engines than 2 of FBCoachSC®'s house. I'd guess gas is not even a blip on the radar of operating costs in that boat.

Friday evening, LOL'd at Va Tech. What a wreck of a team.

Saturday, crawled around under over and in the VW to diagnose and fix clogged sunroof drains that were causing a pool in the spare tire well. Took everything out of the back down to bare metal and let it dry out comepletely. Ran it through carwash to confirm it was fixed, then got home and mainlined on a full dose of couch football. It was glorious. I laughed at Doeren and cried with Chase.

Sunday spent all day cleaning garage and made some Bobby Builds It shelves for my yard gear out of So-of's old bed loft. Made a bracket on the ceiling above garage door for my long extension ladder. Zero trips to hardware store. Knocked off in time to LOL at LSU and Brian Kelly.

Monday finished cleaning garage and got in game prep mode. Son-of came over to watch game and he picked up Bojangles on the way in. Was dissapointed by soggy dirty rice - yech. Had a lil bourbon and tigers won so went to bed happy.

Overall very good, minus slight points for being too wet to hike Monday.

Honestly pretty terrible. Was on call from Friday 7am until 7am this morning. Friday had my windshield replaced after a rock on the road cracked it, but the replacement has several spots of wavy distortion in the glass, will have to be replaced again. Spent all day Saturday operating up here, then had a guy get dropped off on the curb at 10pm having been shot by a .45 at point blank range, miraculously we made it to the OR but there was nothing I could do to fix his injuries. Sunday was fine I guess. Yesterday I had to come start another terrible emergency case about 10 minutes before kickoff. I guess it’s over now, so +1 for a final score of -14/10.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The reason most do it as a lumpsum...

Sep 6, 2022, 1:21 PM

is that most systems have a tough time continuing to pay someone, but take them off the employee/benefit list.

In fact, I'm not sure I've ever heard of a severance being paid over a period and not as a lump sum.

Sep 6, 2022, 10:46 AM

Took off Friday and drove to Myrtle Beach to look at a couple campers. I'm glad I thought it about being the FRIDAY BEFORE LABOR DAY IN MYRTLE BEACH because it only took THREE HOURS to get there. Traffic started at the first stop light in Pawleys Island and stopped, I assume, somewhere near the NC border.

Saturday--did nothing and loved it.

Sunday--Went out in the boat, with intentions of going to Sullivan's sand bar to let my dog run around. I did not take into consideration it was almost a 6' high tide, so not only was there no sandbar, I couldn't fit under the breach inlet bridge. So we rode around in whatever water space was remaining from A BILLION OTHER boats. Then I saw a dolphin do sea world like stunts in Shem creek. In all my years of livin', I've never seen a dolphin breach straight out the water like this one did--twice, 15' from me. Dolphin was prob 12' long and his tail cleared the water by 3'. It was pretty amazing. I have no idea why it did this, but it was wild to see.

Tried to not to kill kayakers and NC idiots crabbing off the finger dock at Shem Creek. Kayakers were OOC. I am still amazed none have gotten injured or killed yet.

ATTENTION PEOPLE FROM OHIO AND NC: FISHING AND CRABBING AT BOAT LANDINGS IS ILLEGAL IN SC. I have no idea why those folks in particular seem to think it's ok. 3 NC'ers were blocking teh dock and seemed to get perturbed that boaters were getting in their way; READ THE SIGNS. Also, Shem Creek boat landing is on a ONE WAY STREET. If you try to drive the wrong way, someone will probably run into you, and will definitely curse at you.

Later, went to the Dinghy to watch a guy play guitar. He was pretty good. The burger I had was also pretty good.

Monday--drank beers on a buddies back porch.

I give it 8/10 dolphins jumping in the air, with the only downsides being too many people, everywhere.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You'd be proud of me IE, went Kayak fishing on FRI

Sep 6, 2022, 11:31 AM

and saw 1 person (besides my fan) at the end of my 8 hr trip who was also in a kayak.

Also saw like 10 bald eagles. Broad river is teh awesome.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't even have a problem with kayakers

Sep 6, 2022, 4:25 PM

I mean if kayakers could actually figure out:

1) the paddle has to go in the water to move
2) paddling backwards doesn't work to go fwd
3) Both sides of the kayak need to be propelled to go straight (and not in circles)
4) get out of the way of bigger boats
5) boats are not bumpers to glance, push or bounce off
6) don't paddle directly in front of bigger boats and then just sit there wondering what to do
7) if a truck is backing an empty trailer or boat/trailer at the landing, don't pull the kayak up in the middle of the ramp behind them in their blind spot, assuming others will stop because they are just "sneaking in". They need to wait just like everyone else.

No one cares that:

a)they the kayaker is tired, or hot, or sweaty, or how great a workout it just was, or
b)this is the first, second, or 500th time they have kayaked or
b)how difficult it is getting out of the kayak without getting wet, or
c)how hard it is to get off the ramp without getting wet, or
d)how heavy the kayak is, or really,
d)anything about them and their kayak.

Just like driving and boating if kayakers would just STAY OUT OF EVERYONE'S WAY, everything would be fine.

so that pretty much sucked the wind out of our weekend plans. My mom was going to throw a b-day pool party for daughter, family, and ATL friends.

Sat - played golf at Cherokee T&C. man...what a spread. super nice club. played terrible, naturally. we had a caddy (despite being in carts) and that ###### me up for the first 6-7 holes. started ignoring his yardages and what not, and turned it around after that. despite starting the first 6 holes +9, I pulled an 85 out of ####.

This is where I found out daughter has HFM. Wife text me pics of bumps, calls doc here in TN and sure nuff, yup, HFM. So we call all friends w/ kids and tell them, basically killing party.

Cooked massive steak and taters for fam sat night.

Sun - kind of just lulled around w/ baby and immediate fam. party was a pool / Willy's catered Thanksgiving vibe haha. oh well.

ended up driving back Sunday night which was pretty seamless.

Mon - got caught up on yard work, cooked some wangs for the family.

had zero seggs b/c at my mom's house and got hammers after going back to whiskey and the one hitter after our DJs second fumble.

I made it back from Western Idaho and other parts west. That's a looong drive back to South Cackilaky. I had body parts aching that I didn't know existed. Could have been from when I jumped off that bridge on MF of the Salmon River. Couldn't let those youngsters have all the fun.

Anyway, a near miracle happened when I stopped by to see the homies in Clemson Saturday on my way in-state. I was given an elixir of some unknown origin with a bunch of three letter abbreviations and told I needed to mix two tablespoons in some coca-cola. So I did and it was akin to drinking from the Holy Grail. Every muscle relaxed, all the aches disappeared, the giggles started, and I glimpsed baby Jeebus before later falling into a deep sleep. The spell is just today starting to wear off. However, not to be amazed and bewildered by a one time drug-induced euphoria, I procured a several months supply of what I was assured was an all natural, non-narcotic elixir. Then, I shared it with the football team and they played good too. Go Tigers!

Not bad...

left work early Friday because wife of was out of town and hung out with my four year old. She's a gem. Then wife got home and we went to Henry's for dinner. Came home and put the kid to bed and then watched the last episode of the Woodstock 99 doc. Pretty good stuff. Made sweet love and slept like a baby.

Saturday, up and drank coffee then wife and I went out for some exercise. Showered and headed down to Soda City and had some tex-mex. Ran some errands with the family and then home to cook dinner which was unmemorable but tasted good I think. Watched a horror movie and then went to bed and made sweet (started and realized daughter of was calling wife of at 11:30 at night so answered and she had come with friends to tailgate for the UCS game and had no place to crash so she and three friends were headed our way) then realized we had 30 minutes before they got there so we finished up the sexy time and slept like a baby.

Woke and made breakfast for the college kids (eggs, bacon and toast) and then wife and I enjoyed some alone time while the kids entertained the 4 year old upstairs. They left and we headed out for errands. Hit up Sam's club and then stopped at Random Tap for a beer before heading home for the evening. Put the kid to bed and fooled around with wife and slept like a baby.

Up Labor day and it was raining so headed to the mall. Had lunch and shopped a little and then home in time to mow the lawn. Cooked burgers and buffalo chicken dip for dinner and then watched the Tigers beat the bees. Slept like a baby.

Spent the weekend on Sugar Mountain. Under water.

Good times, did some work, spemt an hour trying to find a parking spot in Boone on Sunday (no way was I going there sattidy).

Cooked some kickazz pork chops. Watched some footballs, pulled for the Tigers.

7/10 (only 13.3 on the RH Tig Covid Scale). Deductions for rain, ASU not converting. Praying for the ECU kicker...

Then a football game. I tried to watch a couple games but could find no interest until last night.
