Good Game Guys

Jun 2, 2012, 8:20 PM

Your team played like champs today. Can't say anything
negative in a game like that. Glad we won, but I have
seen far too many losses in my life in this rivalry from
your side of it today, and I know that feeling all too
well. You all should be proud of the way your guys
played. Good luck when we face each other again tomorrow.

Go ##### !

The scoreboard says that we did, indeed lose, as much as I hate to say it.

But tomorrow we kick some CC ###.

You're right, it was a great game and our Tigers played hard

Jun 2, 2012, 8:46 PM

SC has some classy fans. They do, but by far and large USCE has fans are very nasty to Clemson fans. I understand that many are this way due to having so many years of Clemson dominate them and having to deal with Clemson fans rub it in. Don't get me wrong, I get this, however, I am not talking about rubbing it in when a team wins and I am not talking about those few bad fans that every team has within their fanbases. I have never been disrespectful to a USCE fan, or a fan from any other school. I have had several insidents with USCE fans and they have been downright horrible. This happens at WB Stadium (both outside and inside), In Death Valley (especially in 2010) and in shopping malls. USCE is a lot like Auburn in the fact that they historically have been dominated by their rival, but when they have some success they are very ugly about everything. My family has been in South Carolina since 1711 and I am very proud to be a native of this great state, but I can't help but have a very strong and deep dislike for USCE, I admit this. I wouldn't pull for them against any other team. But I respect people and I have a great respect for good talent even from USCE. Again, I have never been disrespectful to one of their fans. So, my question to you is why are your fellow Carolina fans so disrespectful? I ask because I feel like I may get a real answer from you.

All fan bases have awful fans. I'm sure all Gamecock fans can attest to the fact that some Clemson fans are awful as well. There are definitely some classy fans on both sides, but it's an ancient in-state Rivalry. Do you expect everyone to be classy? You can't ask one fan to explain why some fans are disrespectful. That's like me asking you why some Clemson fans are so disrespectful.

Re: You're right, it was a great game and our Tigers played hard

Jun 2, 2012, 9:08 PM

I can ask anything. I step up and try to represent Clemson in a positive way, and If I have to speak to Clemson fans to get them in line, I do. I expect the same from all fans. Do I think that all fans will respond the right way, no? But I still am not going to lower my standards. The truth is the USCE has had people like this far more intense than Clemson. Understand the history of your school and remember that this is the way that you guys are, and the way that you guys have always been. The bad thing about it is is when Clemson beats you in football, whether it be this year or the next, Clemson fans are going to be all over USCE fans because of the frustration of the last few years.

As a south Carolina fan

I could write the same post you just wrote, but reverse it around to Clemson.

That's the way rivalries work.

Re: As a south Carolina fan

Jun 2, 2012, 9:02 PM

I promise you that you could not. What I have seen and heard can't even be posted on here because it would be too over the top for a message board. I promise! Your mind is still in the "every rival and school has bad fans" philosophy. I am talking much, much worse and then some.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Both sides still have them

Jun 2, 2012, 9:09 PM

not to start an argument or trolling in the least, but you had a fellow a couple of weeks back talk about a story where a trailer burned down in Columbia, and 2 people lost their lives. He went on to call them "coots fans," yet he was cemented in his belief that he wasn't calling them coots.

No matter what was said you couldn't persuade him that he was in the wrong.

Now, that being said, I'm sure it's gone far worse from people on both sides, things get heated and it tends to happen, but it's not the majority of the fan base from either side, just a select few.

Sure, I don't mind trash talk back and forth every now and then, but it's usually in good fun.

I'm 58 years old, and I live in Columbia now, but grew
up in the Greenville area in the heart of Clemson
country. You have not said one thing about Carolina fans
that I haven't said myself or experianced from fans of
the Tigers since I was old enough to remember. It goes
on, on both sides of the rivalry and it's just as intense
with both fan bases. I've seen really ugly behavior from
Gamecock fans, and I've seen a lot of respect from fans
of your team. We say the other side is worse simply
because we love the teams we pull for. That simple. I
talk smack with any who want to, but for those who are
disrespectful towards me, I simply ignore and continue
to yell Go #####. It really isn't worth the high blood
pressure or stroke that stress brings on.

Again... Good game today. It was one of the best in the
rivalry that I can remember.

Jun 2, 2012, 9:11 PM

Overall you're correct. However, I stll believe that Clemson fans have a more rough experience at WB then USCE fans does at DV. I am not talking about on the field here. I appreciate your kind words.

Bigtiger...

Jun 2, 2012, 9:12 PM

If our venues are intimating places for you to attend well then we're doing our job. I'd ask that you not attend your upcoming game in Athens and for heavens sake if you ever play LSU, stay home! Your feelings will definitely be hurt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're getting me all wrong. I have been to LSU and they are

Jun 2, 2012, 9:30 PM

the worst, I agree. I know what you mean about UGA as well. This is not my point. Your venues have nothing to do with this. I am talking about much deeper issues than some drunk people acting crazy or even going overboard with language and all.

Re: Bigtiger...

Jun 2, 2012, 9:37 PM [ in reply to Bigtiger... ]

Oh, and this is not about my feelings. I actually played college football and was in the Army in Special Forces. I am talking about real people here and If I had witnessed a CU fan do what was done by more than one USCE FAN last November, I WOULD HAVE THEIR A**!!! Hurt my feelings? Man, you better get real. It's about a line needs to be drawn somewhere at some times, no matter the school. You're still thinking bad crazy fans here. That is everywhere. My feelings?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't take it personal. I'm venting.

Have a nice night.
