post in another thread about a season ticket holder who made it to their first game of the season this past weekend got me thinking
do people buy season tickets just for the IPTAY points?
seem to be quite a few ghost season ticket holders s in the upper arena
2 seats immediately to my left? - the dook game was the first time they have been used all season... by dookies no less. they were friendly folks & said they bought the seats on Tickpick (which i had never even heard of)
6 seats directly in front of us? haven't seen the same people twice...in 2 years. on Saturday it was 4 dooks and 2 Tiger fans

people in the athletics department probably get designated free season tickets..
or businesses purchase them and end up never using them

i know the 2 seats at the end of my row are folks in the athletic dept. and those seats are occupied for every game (mostly by the same couple)
didn't think about businesses buying them.. do businesses get IPTAY memberships? i ask because my section sold out to season ticket buyers

heard of him going to about 1 game a year for the last 9 years. Granted his kids play baseball during football season but he keeps them b/c he doesn't want to lose his lower level seats.

and still getting the IPTAY points. Many people do it.
I have a friend, and for years he would buy Georgia Tech Football season tickets, sell either the UGA or Clemson game for a huge premium, and basically go to the rest of the games for free.

but the folks near me aren't selling even half the games
again, the 2 seats next to me were used for the first time all season on Saturday... the ones in front of me have been used 3 or 4 games (out of 10 games)
and i checked - the seats are still for sale for every home game remaining but one - and at not much more than face value. for some games at less than face value
i get it, but still strikes me as odd to buy season tickets and never use them

Oh, balderdash. We have a group that has 6 season tickets. Sometimes none of our group of about 12 can use any. Sometimes extras sell, sometimes not.
A game starting on Wednesday night at 9pm is an almost impossibility for folks who live 1+ hours from campus and have a job or school the next day.
That's just the situation that TV contracts have created. It's not about Clemson. It's not about basketball. It's not about supporting the team.
It's just about the money and the schedule.

indeed 9 p.m. games are ridiculous..TV calls the shots
again, i understand many of the issues, i just find it odd that some folks never use their tickets

That was my post. First game for me due to surgery. Promise you those seats have been filled for every game. I give them to coworkers and friends.

your post (actually one of the responses) got me thinking about the seats around me - season seats that are rarely used ... one set was used for the first time in 10 games this season
certainly wasn't targeting anyone, and if you read the original post, it wouldn't apply to you since your seats get used.
just curious to see folks' thoughts
