George Rogers, Clemson Supporter???

I want to preface this by saying that I’m not trying to start a flame war based on my famliy’s (who are diehard Clemson fans and supporters), their friend’s, or my relationship with any individuals mentioned hereinafter, nor any events which produced the following circumstances.

OK, so a little back story:
A family friend is somewhat close with a certain Mr. George Rogers. I have had the opportunity of meeting him multiple times from childhood until, most recently, a year or so ago. Yeah, he’s a Coot and former Lamecock, but being able to hold the Heisman trophy is a cool experience.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, and this family friend loaned a book to my dad, thinking he would like it. (see here for book https://cualumni.clemson.edu/bookoffer). A biography on Thomas Green Clemson. Last weekend, my dad let me borrow the book (haven’t had a chance to ready though it, seems pretty cool though), but not after revealing something I found to be both hilarious and thought provoking.

There was a piece of paper sticking out of one of the pages; I thought my dad was turning to a page to show me something (the paper being a makeshift bookmark), instead, he pulled out the sheet and handed it to me. At first I couldn’t believe what I was reading, bursting out in laugher.

Here is the evidence that George Rogers may be a Clemson Legacy Society member…

I removed the address, but left the name. I can guarantee that what I blacked out is his address (I have been to his house before).

I’m still laughing at this every time I look at it, but I’m still not sure what to think. Is he actually a member? Or maybe some jokester in the office added his name to the list as some sort of prank. Either way, if I seem him in the near future, I just may have to ask.

As far as the content and subject matter of the letter go… flame on!

PS: This image has not been doctored in any way (other than removing the address, which is probably pubic, whatevs.) If needed, I can provide some further proof to back up my story of having the means to obtain his personal copy of the book.
