Game plan for Duke?

Obviously Fluke is a “tougher” than usual opener. Especially on the road. Compared to lower opponents.
I think we win without a doubt. But will it be similar to GT last year?
Also, it’s been a common strategy since our offense became elite for Clemson to maybe not pull out all of the tools until later in season. But I don’t really know about that with a 1st year OC.
I want to see some downfield plays. And good running downhill with power. Screens are vital, but we need receivers to block better. That has been one of the main issues. If they block well, it’s at least 4 yards every time.
I believe Duke has a good defense. So it’ll be a good test for an opener. Again, think we win pretty comfortably. But I really want to see some better rhythm right off the bat.

I want to see some downfield plays too. But I'm honestly looking more to see some smashmouth old school football won in the trenches. I think we have potentially a three-headed monster at RB in Shipley, Mafah, and Quadzilla. If we can win it on the ground, I'd like to see it done that way. Last year we had too many times when we went away from it and it bit us.

If I were the coach I would be clear from day one of camp that there are 15 games on our schedule, not one. I would then rank each game in order of difficulty. Duke would be ranked near the bottom in difficulty, just above SCU. As a staff, you have to be honest with your team, because if you constantly tell them the next opponent is really good, or that there is only one game, they will begin to think you don't know much about football.

If this is truly our best Oline in a few years, we will run for 250yds. If we cannot run tbe ball against Duke when tbey know its coming, then we are not a playoff team. Our 4 and 5 star talent better be good for a 21 pt win or this isn't a playoff team. Truly elite teams do not struggle against a "solid" Duke team. If we are not explosive with downfield passing game, then we are not a playoff team. The last few years have been won with explosive offense. Not dominate defense. The game is now played in tbe 40's.

It will be. But like a lot have said, Riley runs a unique air raid offense with power running. Like how he used Kendre Miller at TCU. That is exactly what I want.
Max Duggan probably isn’t really as good of a passer as Cade K. is, so it’ll be interesting to see how he can use better recruits with that same style.
