Game day atmosphere

Oct 2, 2020, 11:04 AM

My family and I are not going to attend the game but was wondering what to expect regarding crowds downtown or around campus during the day. I was thinking about taking my wife and our girls up to grab lunch and let them kick around the shops while I drink a beer or two somewhere. Anyone got any insight into what to expect regarding parking availability or how crowded places may be? TIA and Go Tigers

Make sure everyone has a mask because Clemson is pretty intense regarding mask policies right now.

Other than that it will be much slower than a typical gameday.

If you have ever been downtown Clemson on a Friday during the day before a Clemson game, that is about what I would expect.

Things were VERY different on game day for the Citadel game last Saturday. I think this week will be similar especially with the late kickoff. You should have no trouble parking or enjoying the downtown area on game day. I’m sure you can find a tv to watch at a local pub but it likely will be crowded. Mask are required!

I would call around and develop a plan before you go. Some bars (like TTT) are requiring people to reserve a table for a 3 hour block... at least that's how it was for Citadel. Parking wasn't an issue, and it wasn't really crowded, but we did leave dt at 1 to go to tailgate.

Edit: from TTT Website, "Just to clear some things up. We will be accepting walk-ins until we reach capacity tomorrow. The reservations are for people who want a guarantee of a table and not having to wait in line. We still have several tables that are not listed on the LineLeap app. We are just trying to survive and adapt to this situation. Don’t forget to wear you masks coming inside. Looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow. Thanks"

So not required, but if you want to guarantee a table later in the day, you may need a reservation depending where you go. You should be fine around lunch time though. https://www.facebook.com/TigerTownTavern-9554223029
