Future expanded Playoff schedule dates

The College Football Playoff is set to expand in 2024 to 12 teams and here's how that schedule is set to shake out, per Sports Illustrated:
In the 2024 Playoff, the first-round games, played at the home site of the better seed, will kick off the third week of December. One game will be played Friday night, Dec. 20, and three games Saturday, Dec. 21. The NFL begins playing Saturday regular-season games that weekend.
Three of the four quarterfinals are slated for New Year’s Day with one quarterfinal scheduled on New Year’s Eve (a Tuesday night) or Jan. 2. None of them conflict with NFL games. The 2024 semifinals are scheduled to be played on a midweek day, Hancock says. That would presumably be Thursday and/or Friday, Jan. 9–10, in an effort to avoid the NFL’s wild-card weekend, which begins that Saturday.
The 2024 championship game will be held Jan. 20, 2025, Hancock says.

I cant wait. Going to bring some big, different match ups. A lot of people are going to hate the change to begin with, but as usual they will come around once Clemson is in it.

you have to play during the week to avoid interrupting the NFL playoffs.

Looks similar to the NCAA March madness in BB. Thus, any ACC team who is lucky enough to be in the final 12 should feel right at home.

How do we

Keep pressing further into January??!? Who is coming up with this schedule??
They need to simplify the schedule to where the championship is played on New Year's.
Doesn't make sense to me to press the CFB year deep into January.
- Start bowl games sooner (or move them to the beginning of the year).
- Agree with maybe making the conference championships thanksgiving weekend (despite how much I love our annual chicken kickens 'round that time).
- December should be CFP time with classes coming to an end and the championship culminating on New Year's would make it easier on fans that want to travel.
- NY6 Bowls can be NYE6 Bowls (if they aren't moved to the beginning of the year).

No need to move the Thanksgiving weekend rivalry games. There are plenty of available weekends in December.

Plus now would you get 12 regular season games with an open date if you are moving the conference championships games up a week? Makes no sense.

The entire season would move up a week so Week 0 would move back a week and week 1 would start the weekend before Labor Day.

Oh, I can definitely get behind keeping the rivalry game on Thanksgiving weekend and agree that December should have enough weeks to cover all that would be needed.
I looked at what was proposed here in moving everything back one week and could also agree with shifting things back if it meant that the Natty was played on New Year's Day.
Of course, we're stuck with what they referenced here until 2026 so I'm hopeful (and that is probably being wayyyyyy optimistic) that maybe they'll reel things in.

This has good and bad points. I like having the championship game on MLK Day when many people are off work/out of school. People will still be traveling and/or exhausted on Tuesday, but at least one football game doesn't wipe out two work/school days that early in the year.
