From outside

There are only 2 valuable punting metrics

Net punting- Clemson is currently 76th in the country despite not allowing a return on 13 punts

Punts downed inside the 20- Can’t find the stat on this but I’m betting the number isn’t good.

Dabo loves Spiers

praises him any chance he gets. We are just stuck with it until his eligibility is up so I’ve all but given up that we will see much better punting until then.
If punting is all I can really gripe about, then I will be A-OK though. LOL.

Dabo always makes a few decisions that seem really illogical

but the overall result is generally so good that it’s barely worth complaining about.

Of course, we’re human, so we’re gonna do it anyway.

Spiers avg yds per punt is nothing to cheer about.

Clemson went out and recruited a punter to come in and challenge him this season. We have heard that Swanson can boom punts but has not been consistent enough to take the job.

While watching games this past Saturday I saw at least 5 punts from different teams that went 15 yards or less. Bama even had a punt that didn't reach the first down marker.

Those shanked punts can be detrimental for a defense.

I don't love what Spiers does but I will take 35 yards every punt instead of a 50 yarder and a 20 yarder to reach the same average.

Added bonus that Spiers is not giving up returns. If our defense continues to play well, I don't want a special teams return to be the reason we give up points in a close game.

Does Chris Gardocki have any kids? If so, we should sign

them and save a scholly. He did it all, punt, kickoffs, and field goals.

He's old like most of us!

Now, a grandson, perhaps! :)

A greater question is

why don't we ever try to put pressure on opposing punters? If we did, maybe so many wouldn't be 50 yarders.
