on getting this for him this year. Can you explain why it is so bad? Seems like you just hid a stuffed animal and say go look for it.
Also, isn't a 2 year old too young for that #### anyway?

get on your wife's facebook(that's what I do) and see some of the "creative" adventures that these aspiring hollywood set designers set up EVERY DAMM NIGHT FOR THEIR KIDS.
This lady has got to find a new hiding spot EVERY NIGHT from now until Dec 24th. Not to mention if the elf is going to be an "adventurous" one.

gets into every night. And when the wife starts getting into an "I do it better" contest on facebook, it gets highly annoying.
I have found a solution though. Got rid of the wife and sent the stupid elf with her. Problem solved.

I just think it should stay in one spot....but to have that 'eye in the sky' factor, is worth the trouble.

like our middle child. She touches the elf (which is a huge no-no) all the time with no repercussions. It undermines the Santa thing on its own that way.

You struggle and use your last bit of energy just to get them in bed.
You're exhausted and it slips your mind.
Next morning kids are in hysterics because the Elf has lost its powers and they won't get anything for Christmas.
So you wind up piling up more lies about the stupid thing to cover your tracks. It gets exhausting.

The first year we did it, we already had an old folk-art type elf that was angry looking. We named Roger the Angry Elf. Roger was destroyed in a house fire just after Christmas that year.
He was replaced by Snow the Lazy Elf the following year. Snow very rarely moved, and usually just went from level to level on the same book shelf.
Each subsequent year, a new elf is purchased by the Mrs. from etsy. Each year, the elf is lazier than the last.
