Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey wins AP player of the year....

Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey is The Associated Press college football player of the year, becoming the first non-Heisman Trophy winner to earn the honor in six years.

McCaffrey was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy to Derrick Henry, but received 29 of 60 votes from the AP Top 25 media panel to edge the Alabama running back.

Henry received 16 votes and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was third with 11. Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds and Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield each received two votes.

Forgive me but...

The kid had I think 13TDs total. That is a Heisman winner? A whole lot of fun to watch. I wish we had him at Clemson. Kid is flat out a baller. But Heisman?

He had AS A RB, 8 rushing TDs in 13 games. He had 4 in one game. So thats 4 rushing TDs in a span of 12 games. Gallman was more productive than that and he missed a couple games right?

But he's an all around player. He had 4 rec TDs......in 13 games. And he had a return TD. ONE.

He should've won the Heisman?

CJ Spiller by comparison had 12 rushing TDs, 4 Rec TDs and 5 FIVE FIVE yes FIVE Ret TDS, 4KOR and 1 Punt. Thats a total of 21 TDS and was he a shoe in? He is a better all around player than McCaffrey was in college. He had about 250 more return yds than CJ but CJ returned 4 for TDS. I'll take that over a few more 25yd meaningless returns. If CJ wasn't a shoe in this kid isn't. I just don't get it. Watson accounted for 41 TDs and had more rushing TDs than him at 11 to 8. Again I saw the kid play a few times and absolutely loved him. I'm just saying heck no to Heisman or any player of the year. Again, I'll take him on my team any day of the week especially on Saturdays.
