Call me a sunshine pumper if you want, but, in my personal opinion, it is time to turn the page and focus on the positive – to move to the light – and we have much for which to be thankful and to which to look forward. In no particular order of importance, and I am sure that there are more.
1. We have the number one high school player on campus ready to compete for the starting QB role. My wish is that DJ lives up to his potential and has a break out year. Cade learns at DJ’s elbow, gets plenty of reps in blow out games, and then hits the ground running in 2023.
2. KJ Henry is staying home for another season.
3. We have an exciting and slightly eccentric DC in Wes Goodwin. The team was well coached in the bowl game and I am excited to see what Coach Goodwin does on his own. There is a reason Coach Venables wanted to take him with him.
4. Nick Eason is an inspired choice for the new DL coach. He has tremendous credibility in the coaching ranks, and the NFL, which should make him a very effective recruiter.
5. The people with opinions a lot more educated than mine think Coach Streeter is the right choice to lead the offense.
6. We have a group of dedicated, hard working Tigers on campus and on the way who get up everyday and ask the question how can I make this team and this program better. Will Shipley embodies the attitude of these young men who fight everyday for their teammates, their coaches, their school, and yes us fans.
7. Despite devastating injuries, this team fought and scraped and beat the coots, had another 10-win season and won its bowl game against a good team who many pundits thought would easily handle us and our two new coordinators.
8. We get to wake up each morning Clemson fans.
9. The Tigers still are lead by one of the finest men and greatest head coaches ever to grace a college football sideline. He handles adversity with grace and calm in way that should make us all proud. Few ever have done it better.
Okay, I will stop preaching now. Happy New Year to all my fellow tnetters – the No. 1 board in the country.
