FG Kicker thoughts going into Cuse game

2

What is your "opinion" on the best coaching move going into Syracuse game?

A) Start Gunn - Stick with Gunn with the mindset that there is only one way to gain game experience

B) Start Weitz - Because you believe that he has the best chance to make FG's in the game (that may be needed)

C) Hybrid - Start with Gunn on a short lease, with Weitz ready to go if Gunn messes up

D) Other

Watching a coach like Saban - recall seeing him giving a guy an opportunity to redeem himself, but likely doesn't hesitate to pull them out if not performing.

I'm sure the decision (if not already made, but I missed announcement) will be on how well performing in practice, but again, not the same as the game in regards to pressure.

Weitz will be starting the rest of the season unless he completely craps the bed. I don’t think Dabo would have went thru the trouble of bringing him in if that wasn’t the plan

I now see that Weitz is starting, so moot point.

Or perhaps Weitz for the short range stuff and Gunn for the 40+ yard kicks.

Dabo said this week, Weitz up to 50 as hes hit that in practice.***

He also said Gunn could hit from 70 so... take that statement for what it's worth.

Give Gunn chances only if the game is out of reach. Close game going with Weitz.

Weitz swings his leg like a 6-iron which is comforting on XPs and shorter FGs. Gunn swings his leg like his driver on a par 5 and is just too inconsistent. Kicking in the Dome should help them since the turf is good and the wind is nonexistent. They will have a perfect day - as long as we block folks.

I like the imagery. You should work in Hollywood, we'd get better movies.

My thoughts are I hope it doesn't come down to a FG...

Gunn for all kick offs and 40 yard plus FG if its a prayer. Unless its tied with a prayer to win, i am leaving the offense out there an pooch or go for it. We need a better mental health counselor to get past this.

Indutably. Our field goal mindset has the broke, badly.

I've seen many a soccer ball fly straighter than our kicks this year.

:(

Thoughts are we won’t need a da** kicker this week.

We’re a 4 down team unless it’s under 30 yards now in my opinion.

Gunn can’t make any

Weitz can’t kick farther than 30.

Our offense is starting to roll

Play like you don't have a field kicker.

Can't get much worse at K position

Full scholarship kicker is a 2023 bust. Walk-on backup missed badly on short pressure kick. Better kicker option (Liam Boyd) is on UNC team. Both 2023 losses shade heavily on the kicking position. Potter missed 3 of 5 FG's in TN bowl game. Special Teams/Kicking coaching is non-existent. Worst in ACC and possibly all Power 5 conferences. Pitiful.

Kickoffs only. Otherwise, 4 downs inside 35 and go for 2 on touchdowns. Figure the rest out for next season.
