our roads, highways & bridges in same period of time.

Also, we as a nation are poorer for it, as are the Ukrainian citizens.

Well, guess the DEMs and the important Military Complex are happy.

Superpower for the price we pay to maintain our roads?

Second.... Our roads have never been better funded in my lifetime. Here in SC we're using billions in covid money to widen interstates and other projects. Technically not road funding that's funding roads anyway.

As a lifetime sc resident. Our roads are awful. These little projects you’re talking about have been going on for the better part of a decade. Slow if any progression.

Carolina Crossroads is a $1.6 billion project, underway.

They are widening the last part of 26 going out of Columbia ($450 million project). They are also starting th widen 26 to 6 lanes from Charleston to Columbia. Already started in Dorchester County. They're widening the first 30 miles of so of I-95 from the GA border going north. You may have noticed all the trees have been cut along I-26 from Columbia to Charleston in preparation.

And my family is being PELTED with offers to buy our wetland areas now because they have to offset the land used on these road projects. We are on schedule to spend well over 3 billion on roads in SC in the next decade.

This isn't just from our increased gas tax, raised to match GA and NC. This is also LARGELY covid funds repurposed by the gubnah.

Side note, if you have noticed the closest section of the 26 widening from Harbison to the Peak Exit seems complete, but the new lanes remain blocked (foe a month now or so). That's because the contractor doing the project agreed to do several million dollars of additional work that wasn't part of the contract and now SCDOT has refused to pay for it. So they're keeping that completed section closed, and others, until SCDOT pays them.

Oh, and for Carolina Crossroads, well, it's currently dead in the water until they can redesign the plans. Seems they failed to take into account moving infrastructure. The key central/connecting phase is where this problem arose. So what they're building now will connect into a yet to be determined new design. You can throw money all around, but it's much harder to throw around intelligence/competence.
