You're the only one that didn't get it.

There's a reason that F-35 is limited, just as there is a reason we haven't shared any B-2 technology. If we're going to reduce F-35 (which it looks like we have), then why not just sell them some B-2s while we're at it.

We don't sell the F-22 either. Unlike the B2/F22, the F35 was designed to be an aircraft that was sold internationally and used around the world. While it does incorporate top technology, it does not use all of our best stuff.

About 70% of weapons that are given to Ukraine end up on the black market.

CBS News did the investigative work in late 2022 or early 2023; our federal govt told CBS to kill the story.

This is why giving anything to Ukraine is foolish.

Our Ukraine policy should be to get a negotiated peace with Russia that limits Ukraine’s territorial loss to nothing more than what has already been lost.

Ukraine doesn’t have the numbers of fighting age men to sustain the fight.

Maybe you should volunteer yourself, younger cousins, younger friends, etc to become ‘private contractors’ and fight for Ukraine. Time to put your own skin in the game.

We need to go ahead and pass the next tranche of aid, and get Ukraine back on better than even footing in the war. They've proven they're willing to fight, and the only thing they've been missing lately is weapons and supplies. The US had better not pull the rug out from under them.

If a bill is put on the floor of the House, it will easily pass with massive Democratic support and likely majority Republican support. The only thing holding it back is a small group of idiots who are listening to a former President who loves Putin and hates Ukraine.

Hard to calculate. It costs money to fund Ukraine. The economic windfall of arms sales could be massive as the world sees how they would be better off buying our stuff than Russuan crap. Not to mention that our resolve to stop Russian aggression may stave off an attempt of China invading Taiwan.

Have to train the pilots, train the maintenance crews, provide spare parts and any specialized tooling, and a lot of logistics that goes with that.

In short, nope. Best they can hope for is some F-16s. I think A-10s would be really helpful for them. Pretty relatively simple stick-and-rudder planes. Mothball them or sell/donate them and put them to good use.

Just said that it's not as easy as sending a dozen or so planes there. Takes a long time to train a pilot on those planes - very complicated - and maybe even longer to train the maintenance crews on planes as complex as these.

Dude, this is a bad troll, right?

The F-35 is basically a plane wrapped around a supercomputer, stuffed with some of the most advanced avionics, sensors, electronic warfare, and stealth materials our defense industry has ever come up with. It is miles ahead of the competition. Even Chinese competition.

The absolute last thing you would ever, ever do is put one of those things potentially in harm's way where it could be shot down and recovered or worse, captured. You also don't want the F-35 lingering long in a combat theater where there's extensive aerial radars like the Beriev A-50 in use because over time the Russians would learn how to better track it.

For the most part we've given the Ukrainians our remanded seconds, stuff that was slated for decommission and replacement anyway.

Then why do we sell it if we are worried about it potentially crashing or getting shot down?

I'm only talking about giving them a couple to test it out and see how it performs. Keep them over Ukrainian territory.
That's vital information for future sales/development.

This jet is like no other. It takes 100s of hours of training to be able to use the F-35 like it is intended. Many pilots transitioning to the F-35 from a 4th gen fighter are like fish out of water for a long time, and some of them never quite figure it out and would be relegated to a wingman role if the chit hits the fan.
