Was at MSG for the game last night...

Apr 2, 2014, 12:26 PM

Brutal loss, especially after a dominating 1st half. Wish we had worked it inside more in the 2nd half, but they did a pretty good job. I think at the end of the day, SMU just had more weapons on offense than we did. Also, and I don't want to blame this one on the refs because we lost this game, but there were a few calls towards the end that didn't go our way that I felt should have. They also didn't seem to call it both ways in a couple of instances. That pi$$ed me off. But hats off to SMU, they deserved the win.

As for the crowd, I was extremely impressed with the amount of orange in the arena-- Clemson was more represented than any other school. A lot of Clemson fans. The one issue I had-- and I'll put this on the ticket office-- is that we were spread out all over the place. SMU fans were very concentrated and were therefore much louder. The ticket office needs to be more communicative in this regard. SMU seemed much more organized.

Last thing: To the 4 Clemson fans in the row in front of me in section 116: Thanks for not cheering AT ALL. EVER. Why bother coming if you're not going to do our cheer or even clap when good things happen? Just stay home.

here on the board.

They love wearin' the colors, but their words (or lack of) always give them away.

Maybe they were flashed on the streets of NY and were still

in shock. "Don't look Ethel, too late she already had been mooned."

Did you think that we looked tired and slow?

Apr 2, 2014, 1:37 PM

Rod Hall especially. I thought they all looked lazy even in the first half.

I don't know if its b/c we are trying to slow the pace or if they were indeed tired but they didn't look all too thrilled to be playing in the second half.

Even KJ on a couple of plays didn't challenge the shooter clsoe to the rim like he usually does. He make have been trying to avoid the foul but i've never seen him not go after every shooter that he's in position to block.

Not much fire from us in 2nd half for sure. And the key at the end was, those threes we have been hitting late in games, didn't go down in this one. And thats how we lost. Harrison and Roper missed a couple big ones in the last 2 mins of the game and thats the difference. Its not their fault they hit plenty in the game as a whole but didnt have the luck last night. It happens.

Go Tigers though, come back KJ!

Even more irritating...

Bobby Knight's play-by-play. Seemed pro-SMU and very anti-Clemson. Made the disappointing second half that much harder to watch.

Question for uproar84

What is it that makes MSG so special? I've never been so I wouldn't know. Thanks for being loud and proud and representing. +1 for your support

I guess it's the history more than anything...

Apr 2, 2014, 3:10 PM

Quite honestly, the place is kind of a dump. They've made some major renovations that have improved it a lot over the past 5 years, but based on aesthetics alone, it's nothing special. More than anything, its reputation has to do with what's happened there and the fact that it's in the middle of NYC. You have the Frazier & Ali fights, a lot of huge concerts that have stopped through, the Willis Reed Knicks, Jordan and Miller clowning the Knicks, Celebrity Row, the Rangers winning their first Cup in a million years, the Big East Tournament, etc. A lot has happened there-- not much than I'm personally a fan of other than the Big East-- but a lot nonetheless, so I get why it's famous in that regard. But, as for the building itself, nothing special.

Hope that helps explain things at least a little.

Thanks, that explains it

I figured it was just simply history. Each time they show MSG it doesn't seem to be some great looking palace.

I loved it when they blew it up in Godzilla. Not sure why. Guess I'd laugh if that had been the GA dome in that scene too.

Did book you're flight utill Thursday? It's a legit question, not tryna be funny or anything cause I thought we had the game won then BOOM you know the rest. I was just wondering how did that all work out cause if we would have won we you'll still be up there right? Just something that I was thinking about last night.
