EAGLE NEST PIP WATCH Wed. 3/6/23

God's work is amazing in so many ways. This is just one example. The million dollar view is not bad either.

The first laid egg was on 1/25/16:55 and should have hatched by now. The second egg was laid on 1/28 at 13:59 and also should have hatched by yesterday. The third egg was laid on 1/31/17:58 and should hatch by today.

The camera aimed at the nest is being monitored at least up until midnight each day. It may be monitored all night, I just don't watch after midnight. But each time Jackie or Shadow get up off of eggs to fluff the nest and turn the eggs, the camera zooms in on the eggs to see if any pip has occurred to egg shell. The crew monitoring the nest are just as eager as we to see the first hatch.

One of the members of FOBBY has tweeted that she does not think the eggs are going to hatch. The eagles are turning the eggs quite often. Jackie only has about a 50% hatch % and the survival rate of the hatched is only about 50% due to weather, snow and or rain after the hatch. Cold is deadly on newly hatched.

It could be that the eggs were not fertilized or the snow effected the nest.

Jackie and Shadow have not given up and are still on the nest.

The eaglet does not appear instantly from the egg. It takes some time to peck its way out. It is a slow process.

Weather yesterday was really nice. This week the weather is supposed to be sunny with some clouds but no snow or rain.

Shadow visited the nest 4 times and brought Jackie a fish which she promptly ate. He went thru the fly thru window at Big Bear Lake. Shadow spent about 5 hours on nest.

Enjoy watching God at work. His majestic wonders are all around us. We just need to take the time to see it. This eagle nest is like no other in the world. It is being watched on a daily basis by over 20,000 people worldwide. It was watched yesterday by 30,000 viewers.

If you have a smart tv or Roku, bring up You Tube, NOT YOU TUBE TV, Repeat NOT YOU TUBE TV, on your tv. In the search block, type in Big Bear Valley Eagle Cam, and it will bring up the nest. Click on that and you can watch the nest on your tv. You will be surprised at how much better the nest and everything looks. You will get a much better idea of how big the nest is and how strong the wind is blowing.

We all are getting anxious and the odds are now not looking favorably on the eggs hatching. Don't give up yet and keep watching. When Jackie and Shadow start leaving the eggs unattended, we will then know that they have also given up. Ravens will then eat the eggs.

Sorry for the not so positive news. Keep fingers crossed that at least one of the eggs will hatch.

and it looked to me like one of the eggs had started to hatch, but the Friends of Big Bear Valley, who manage and maintain the eagle nest cams, said as of late Tuesday evening, there is no confirmed Pip.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

That is amazing and the scenery is awesome

I would think that eagles would insulate their nests a little better. It's just mightily exposed to the elements.

Just saw a closeup of eggs when Shadow was turning them. One is in the process of hatching. Fuzzy feathers sticking through egg.

Great news!!!!!!!

I saw that too but didn't know if that was just some fuzz from one of the parents sticking to the egg or a hole. Last night on Fox I thought they showed the beak starting to peck through, but I have not been able to find it going back on the live feed.
