Dont post much these days, but this grinds my gears

Reading the front page article from the “Worldwide Leader” this morning…

This is why people accuse ESecPN of having an SEC bias. It’s not the big things, it’s little things like a line in this article which calls Texas A&M an “SEC power”.

Since joining the SEC, TAMU has had one double digit win season, way back in 2012 with Johnny Football as QB. Since then they’ve been a 7-9 win team per year, with the exception being last year when they won a whopping five games.

TAMU has not been a “power”, regardless of the conference.

ESECPN is not a Sports Channel. ESECPN is not an Entertainment Network. ESECPN is The Advertising Agency for the SEC. Nothing more, nothing less.

During the evening wrap up show, they had Joey Galloway plus some other guy and their No Name Anchor (because they fired all the guys that they had to pay). Mr No Name Anchor says something critical of TAMU……and Joey Galloway then pointedly criticized him for “Not Keeping it Positive”.

It is ESECPN Company Policy, to say nothing critical of the SEC and to endlessly bash everyone else. It is obvious. It is continuous. It is simply undeniable and they’ve been doing it for a decade.

ESECPN’s so called “coverage” is in lockstep with where their money is. THAT is not “coverage”, THAT is MARKETING.

They live and die with the SEC the money paid by ESPN with brass means they to keep up the ruse...only Alabama, Georgia and occasionally a streak by LSU or Auburn make up great teams...Vanda, Ark, Misery, Kentucky, SC, UF have been also rans...ergo thecoaching carousel...and poor records ..Texas and Okies are necessary to make the conference legitimate...TAMU can probably be legit! The entertainment gambling and sport network ain't legit either!

People need to read Clay Travis's take on ESPN's future

as he is right on the money.

ESPN is in 100 million households due to cable and satellite packages

That dropped 15% with the Spectrum feud

People are cutting the cord in droves, as no one wants to pay for HGTV when all they want is sports, so streaming is increasing

Streaming is a net loser on $$$ compared to cable and satellite, as cable and satellite TV are the new newspaper

The NFL package is the largest streamed sports package (Paid) and has only 3 million subscribers

Compare that to 100 million ESPN has through cable and satellite deals

There's a reason Disney wants to unload ESPN, they see the future.

There's a reason the B1G has tied itself to CBS and FOX and ND will do the same with NBC

ESPN is on its deathbed, it's hemorrhaging money. It's paid billions for rights fees. Their ad revenue will collapse when streaming is their thing.

Thus ESPN has to promote and shill for the SEC as they paid billions for rights they won't be able to eventually fund

It really was a great read explaining the bigger picture better than anyone. His shopping mall analogy so spot on.

After reading one question that entered my mind is whether future SEC renewal in 2027 will be more or less lucrative than the current contract?

Could it be that the longer term 2036 ACC contract we currently have so much heartburn over ends up being a better deal if ESPN money begins drying up?
