Not football related. Asking for prayers once more.

Hey everyone. Some of you may remember the ongoing issues with my back. My last back surgery, which was my third, was in November. I'm now 6 months post-op and having major pain, although today was a better day. First off I am a Christian and you may already know that as I speak of my faith and have previously asked for prayer. My faith has been shaken. I haven't gotten to the point of doubting God's ability. I have just doubted that He is going to completely take away my pain completely. At least not now. I work for a company who has been beyond understanding. My last goal was to start back to work this Friday, but due to my increased pain, popping in my back at the fusion site, popping of my SI joints, etc. my doctor has sent over documentation for another extension.
I am now being referred to a back specialist at Emory Medical University. I'm not looking for another surgery, but I want to know if they can zero in on the pain (specifically my right hip and SI joint). I want to know if further improvement should be expected or if this is it.
One of the issues I've shared with you all is my addiction to pain meds. As stated previously, I was on the equivalent of almost 40 Lortabs a day and I got down to about 5-6 a day. Over the last 3 weeks I have had to increase to upwards of 9-10. I despise that about myself. The bright side, IMO, is that I started taking more due to pain and not because of withdrawals,
Due to this extension of being out of work my pay goes down even more. Even as a Christian with faith, it is hard to not wonder how I will lead my family through this financially. I've always been middle class and due to chronic back pain and 3 major surgeries, I obviously don't have a big savings account to float us. So that is one thing I'm asking prayer for. I do give to my church and I believe God is faithful and has seen the sacrifice and I don't believe one tear has gone unseen or one prayer unheard,
I'm thinking of filing for SS disability because I cannot sit for more than 10-15 minutes without severe discomfort which leads to pain after about 30 minutes. I worry about what my friends and family will think of me if I file. Please pray for this as well, that if I file that it will be as fast of a process as possible. I've heard about how long some have waited and the appeals.
Lastly, thank you. If you've never had chronic pain or back issues, be thankful. It is a nightmare you cannot wake up from. God bless you all.

been down the same road. However, all of us can offer our sincere sympathies and hopes for better days ahead.
Perhaps, my longevity has taught me that the Almighty works in mysterious ways, albeit in His own time and as He deems necessary. Though you express anguish, your writings indicate a gentle and understanding nature, for your own suffering, perhaps, has made you more attuned to the suffering of others. Thus, your compassion toward your fellow man may well be one great gift derived from all your adversities.
Many here on this site, including myself, will continue to pray for your healing and the improvement of your circumstances. We won't think derisively of you for seeking financial assistance and will encourage your continued relation of your condition.

so much pain. It seems to me that you have reached the point where disability might be your only option. Don't worry about what others may think of you if you go on disability. Only God and you know your heart and your intentions. Will be praying for you to get some relief, some good news at Emory as far as treatment, peace of mind on the disability issue and financial help for you and your family. God bless and keep us posted.

Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Y'all are awesome friends I may or may not ever meet. I took necessary steps today to have my extension out in and transfer my disability leave from short term to long term.
I'm going to go ahead and file for SS disability. Question for you all. Should I apply first and then get an attorney or vice versa?
