Yep, it is both, and I wouldn't put it the NCAA to come up with a screwed rule as that before they completely destroy college sports, but they better hurry up bc they've about accomplished that act!!!

The NCAA has pretty much zero choice in the matter at this point. The courts, including SCOTUS, and state legislatures have changed the rules. Basically, the courts have decided that the NCAA cannot make any rules that place any limits whatsoever on student-athletes. No NIL? Too bad, courts burned that one. Sit out after transferring? Courts burned that. Okay, one free transfer...nope, courts say can't make anyone sit out, ever. Lawyers have set their sights next on the member institutions, which will be found to not be required to abide by any NCAA rules.

Next things to go might be:

* years of eligibility...it's not fair that you limit a player to 4 years of eligibility if he wants to play more

* academic eligibility...it's not fair that you require players to go to class

* scholarship limits...if a school can't afford 150 scholarships for their football team, then they should play football

* women's sports...if a man can't cut it and wants to play in a women's sport, you have to let him

Tar holes were way ahead of the NCAA and courts by not requiring athletes to attend classes. Now everybody has to catch up with UNC's foresight!

Big difference in my opinion. First I think we have a chance to win now. Before, I hoped we would have a chance to win. Secondly, Cade is yet to hand the freaking ball off to the opposing side. Thirdlee, Cade is a tiger and will always be a tiger. Can't say that about big stinko/plinko.

There is no need spending any time on questions or worry about NIL and the Portal because they will be what they will be. Schools that do not accept and embrace the opportunities NIL and the Portal give athletes will fall behind. The barn door is open and it will not be closed.

The portal isn't helping very many teams.

One is to prevent the NCAA from being named as a defendant in future lawsuits involving NIL and transfer issues, and the second is getting any pending lawsuits involving NIL and transfer issues dismissed.

College Football won't be worth watching anymore. Not quite at the point yet, but getting there.

Watching games are not the same as they use to be - torture with all the commercials, delays due to call reviews, etc.

I hope the money hungry geniuses that created this mess (SEC, Big 10, Texas (Longhorn Network), ESPN) pay for it when the viewing audience decreases - I believe that it will happen eventually.

If I want to watch a brand new team every year, I'd watch the NFL (don't like NFL). At least Clemson Football continues to value college academics and athletics - you at least have ~ 4 years to watch players grow and succeed. Who wants to watch 12 players being replaced by 12 players via the portal.

True . . . although . . .

although I wonder if the audience won't decrease enough to matter. I sort of just expect the demographics of college football fan to shift to those who don't have as many traditional ties to the sport of eras past, and don't feel the change as much.

This is the exact reason why the older I get I find myself going back to the only tru sport left that hasn’t been ruined and it’s baseball… I used to be a crazy person on Saturdays and literally let Saturday decide my mood the rest of the week… with what this has become I don’t even ge mad when we lose anymore m, sure mad but I’m over it in 2 minutes. I find myself much more excited about the Braves and college baseball season than football season anymore. And that’s sad bc I remember the days as a student in the valley and there was nothing like it not even close. Really sad what the sport had come to.

I love the games; but we have been lucky as we have not had major roster movement of key players.

However I can see where the interest will lessen if the transfer portal is not controlled.

Also how are these players that move from school to school academically eligible?
