Fielder for Kinsler. I think I like it from both sides. What say ye, TXTF?

20-something million per year. Kinsler has a big contract as well, but not that big...he's signed for 4 more years. Detroit is sending $30 million to Texas in the deal, but the Tigers are still saving a pretty good chunk of change.

The fact that they are willing to add +$30M to sweeten the deal means that they either have some significant money issues now or in the near future. I also think that Fielder is going to find playing in Texas a little tougher (HR wise) than Detroit. Not sure what Kinsler adds to the equation other than experience and a solid glove. But, he too, is aging. What will be interesting is to see if the Yankees (or probably the Dodgers) are willing to give Cano a $300M deal for over 10 years. And, if I am not mistaken, Cano is 31. Not so sure there is a appetite amongst the owners to continue to pay Pujols-like contracts for aging players. Dunno, maybe Jay Z (is that his name?) has found the way to get the pot and the end of the rainbow.

Other than they want to use the money they freed up to help with other stuff, most notably locking of Scherzer.

I was watching MLB network talking heads and they were saying that he is not tied to Detroit and would rather play in a warmer climate. I also read that he was leaning towards going back to Arizona. Who really knows. But, I guess that if you have money to burn, it would make the climate in Detroit more tolerable to bear. Okay, bad pun.

If he does, Rangers could be tough. Of course, Fielder will need to learn to hit in the playoffs.
