I am blown away by Pogačar and Vingegaard just matching each other blow for blow. If Pogačar didn't have the motorbike and crowd prevent his sprint for the KOM time bonus on stage 14, we'd be talking a two second difference rather than 10.

If you don't know what I mean, Vingegaard would have covered the attack (shown by his ability to attack Pogačar and win the precious bonus points), but he can't out-sprint Pogačar when Pogi has a head of steam. The swing there was 3 secs. Then, Rodriguez and Yates never get the chance to catch them and Pogačar out-sprints Vingegaard for the win for another 4-sec swing. Instead it went +3 to -2 for a net +1 for Vingegaard.

I got Vingegaard extending his lead by around 10 seconds in the TT on Tuesday, and then fireworks for UAE and Pogačar on stages 17, 18, and 20. It's going to be a great final week of the most exciting Tour I've watched!

As a side note, I can't even dream to explain the team tactics of UAE and Jumbo-Visma. It's like they are alternating stages wanting to say "hold my beer."

I have watched it all but having to record the stage when it is on tv from 2-6am or whatever and then find time to watch it is not easy. The tv schedule makes it hard to keep up because I don't want to to look at the Tour website because that would get me a day ahead.

I went ahead and got a $5 subscription to Peacock to watch and fast-forward at my leisure

Wouldn’t you know the year I decide to not watch any of the TdF, it is a great one (taking you at your word and opinion on that, ‘12). I ride a ‘04 Giant TCR road bike - and have been hooked on riding for the past twenty years. I’ve been a fan (and watcher) of the Tour for a lot of that time. However, the past few years it seems to have turned into a case of one of the season’s top riders building a fair lead (with the help of his team) by the first 6 - 10 stages, and then it’s just a ‘cruise to the win’ - barring an injury, crash, etc. Thus the last half of the stages are pretty much anticlimactic.

Sounds like I’ve missed a good one.

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

That's every tour except a handful. The Armstrong, Contador, Sky train eras look to be done

We could just pencil in the winner. The battles Jumbo-Visma and Team UAE have had the last 4 years are must watch racing!

In 2020 (Pogi's 1st), he didn't wear yellow until the final TT on stage 20. He beat fellow countrymen and Jumbo-Visma rider Primož Roglič.

I wanted Roglič to win the tour so bad. The guy is just an amazing athlete. He was a world-class ski jumper and had a nasty crash. He picked up road racing extremely late and had a meteoric rise in the sport.

He just won the Giro d'Italia and will win the Vuelta in August, and I hope he gets his chance at the Tour again. He crashed out last year, but he'll be back to finally win the tour next year.

2019 was an amazing tour, also. It was the last win by Ineos (Team Sky) and the end of their domination. It was fun b/c it was their two riders battling it out for the yellow jersey. A landslide cut that tour short. Defending champ Thomas lost a close one to his teammate Bernal.

Yes great race this year and super cool to see Lawson Craddock - from Houston originally - get a top 5. My claim to fame is when he was a teenager (he was dominating cat 3 races that year) three of us dropped him out of a break at Coldspring TX road race. He won jr world TT the next year. I also raced with Chad Haga who rode the tour a few times and won an TT stage in Giro. I still do group rides with one of Lance’s best friends growing up who himself was a 5x national champ. Cool to see local talent do big things on the big stage!

Amazing ride for him today! Didn't know where he was on the climb until he came over the line***

But, I admit I haven't been watching but for the past few years.

Wife and I lived in Switzerland for 5 years (2018-2022) and that's when I really started watching it. It's been pretty cool learning a lot about the TdF. Each team's strategies, the race-within-the-race and the different Jersey colors. The announcers do an awesome job explaining things and why it happens. Love seeing the aerial views of the surrounding countryside.

Went to the final in Paris in 2021 and Stage 8 (Lausanne) in Switzerland in 2022. Very cool experience.

And I agree, this year's Tour has been a lot of fun to watch! My wife likes the Jumbo (it's like a Lowe's hardware in the States) Team because of a Jumbo right down the street from our home.

They change so often from year-to-year, I don't bother caring. But, I appreciate the info. I support Jumbo-Visma b/c American Sepp Kuss is Vengegaard's right -hand man and leading domestique. I'd love to see him become a leader of a team and see where he can finish in his prime. He's 6th right now, and he spends his effort supporting Vengegaard.

Yep, Sepp from Colorado. I'm really liking Powless too.

It's all of the cheating that got me. The PED's of course, but even the illegal bikes. There was so much cheating. Is it clean now?

I'm not condoning it, but we might as well turn off the TV on ALL sports.

Here's what Vingegaard said about doping after the stage:

"To be honest I fully understand the scepticism. We have to be sceptical, with what happened in the past, otherwise it would happen again," Vingegaard told a news conference after Sunday's 15th stage.

So yes, I fully understand the questions we're getting about it (our performances)," said Vingegaard. "All I can say is I'm not taking anything but yes to be honest there is scepticism about us going fast and yes I think it's a good thing.

And also something else, there is the food, the material, the training (that have improved) but again it's always good to be sceptical or think about it at least."

I listen to a few different podcast about cycling, and every former rider marvels at the programs these riders are on. Everything they put in their body is custom formulated for them at that exact time. Long gone are the days of a coke or a snickers when you hit a wall. They also use ketones when they never did before.

With massive advancements in the technology of the sport (nutrition, equipment, training, etc.), it makes sense that the riders are able to go faster than ever. And, these young riders have been on these programs throughout their junior and early senior careers.

this is an epic race, no doubt
