Does a Clemson win against Duke secure Brownell another year

Mar 7, 2017, 2:16 PM

At Clemson?

That might be the game that somehow puts us back on the bubble.

...or is Brownell already done for (meaning he'd have to win the ACC Tourney to stay)?

Unfortunately, he will be back even if Duke beats us by 50 and we lose the first game of the NIT.

Agreed, we have been competitive in too many big games to make a change at this point. Also, our record would have been better with a full strength (3 players out. Including; Thomas and Mitchell) at the Orlando Shootout.

Another thing is how much of an offensive crutch we have had with Sidy and Grantham this year. Sidy will be gone and Grantham's threes have been under control lately.

I really wish Sidy had had a better offensive year. He seems like a wonderful guy. His work ethic and smile is contagious.

Please give me a link where ANY ONE in the athletic department has even hinted that coach BB is likely to bar replaced any time soon! You are dreaming!

I think the win today pretty much seals hes coming back next year regardless of the what happens tomorrow. We should be in the NIT now.

even if Duke

if that's the outcome for BB then having a strong basketball program is not a priority for Clemson. He's been here 7 or 8 years with his best team and can't win 20 games.Close counts only in horseshoe.SMh!

What a terrible post and opinion. Sounds like an impetuous gamecock opinion.

The BB program overall is light years better than what he inherited. This is probably the ACC's strongest showing in a decade and we are/were right there in the middle of it. He deserves more time.

Re: even if Duke

I guess I am missing some things:

How were we right in the middle as a 12 seed?

Also how are we light years better? We have 1 NCAA appearance (with OP's guys) and never been ranked under Brownell. OP took us to the Tournament 3 times and had us in the top 25 his last 4 years. Is there a quantitative measure of how we are better?

Re: even if Duke

Mar 7, 2017, 5:28 PM

Yes. We have a coach who will stay dedicated to the program and not walk out in the middle of the night without even a kiss my a$$ to the players or fans. How can any CLEMSON man approve such a jerk as OP?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You don't even know how long he has been here? Is it 7 or 8?***

Lol I am not wishing. My statement (as posted similar in another thread) is that we are most likely in the NIT (unless we were to decline the invite).

Next year though is the make it or break it year for him. You can't deny that we have fallen off the map under BB.

2024 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's safe without Duke. He's over .500 for the season

Mar 7, 2017, 2:40 PM

and also has a $3 million buyout. He's here for another season.

If that's the case....

Mar 7, 2017, 4:12 PM

DRad may feel compelled to give Brownell another contract extension too.

If DRad does that, he should be fired immediately as well.

Re: Does a Clemson win against Duke secure Brownell another year

Mar 7, 2017, 3:22 PM

CBB is here another year, but fans still need to make it known we want an NCAA berth next year or Brownell is out no matter the buyout. Today showed us what this team is fully capable of doing and frankly I would like to win the NIT to boost the statue of the program and help recruiting. I among many fans are deeply disappointed in outcomes of several games, but Clemson basketball is due a streak of plain good luck after so much frustration.

Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought that's what we were doing this season?

Mar 7, 2017, 5:53 PM

And last season?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It shouldn't. He likely gets another year regardless***

I agree ... with his buyout, he's probably golden regardless

Mar 7, 2017, 5:49 PM

right now ... but beat Duke and get into the NCAAs and he's definitely not going anywhere. He may even get an extension.

whether they win or not. Too expensive to let go right now. That's on Rad, and he knows it.
