Poorly if Brent Venables was in charge? I thought they would turn the corner at some time but no I don’t think they will. Our offense is going to have to be more successful for us to win out because the defense is not going to bail us out like last year under Brent.

have you seen oklahoma defense this year so it would not have made a difference if Brent was still here bottom line notre dame punked us out last night on both sides of the ball especially on both lines of scrimmage

I think that Venables made better half-time adjustments than Goodman has done thus far.

I do think that Goodwin is a good coach, however, and the 'live fire' experiences of 2022 will serve him and the entire defense very well for 2023.

Remember, Venables had the entire package in 2021, with our DB unit being fabulous. This year's DB unit has gotten better as the season has progressed, but last year Andrew Booth and Nolan Turner were great tacklers, and Booth & Goodrich were fine coverage guys.

Our DB talent this year simply isn't as experienced, and that continues to show itself.

Also, our LBs are as talented as they've ever been, but our super duper fast OLB / hybrid guy is out of position too often. (He was out of position a lot back in 2021, but he was a true FR last year.) Let's see if Goodwin coaches up that potential superstar for the 2023 season.

I'm betting that both our LB Corp (despite losing Simpson) and our DB Corp will be better in 2023.

(D-Line ... that's another story as far as 2023 vs. 2022 season.)
