Do we ever pull offers?

Nov 9, 2012, 4:22 PM

I'm just curious as I don't remember us typically doing that. I know we quit recruiting Lane, but I think that was somewhat different.

The more I think about this RN debacle, the more nervous I get for his 'friends'. Anyone that thinks we would have picked all those Grayson guys if RN hadn't demanded it is - well - you know. Fact of the matter is - if I'm one of those recruits, and I wasn't recruited by several big programs, I'd be nervous and looking to jump ship myself. Otherwise, they might be looking to go anywhere they can before NSD. I don't think CLEMSON acts like spurrier in these cases, but spurrier would have already decommitted most of Grayson just on principle.

RN is close to being old enough to vote, serve his country, and be locked up for not paying his bills - so he's old enough to honor his commitment. I know we've beaten this horse to death, but he's played CLEMSON pretty hard so far. I don't usually like to get played like that, so CLEMSON might not like it either. This is going to be interesting. Where's my popcorn?

The only reason we offered a 4 star RB (when Ellington is leaving this year on an already thin depth chart) and a 3 star CB (I dont think I even need to explain the DB situation) was because RN "Commanded" Dabo to offer them

Kamara and Gallman have publicly said that they are still 100% Clemson and hope that RN will be with them come next year, but that they would support him no matter what his decision. I think they both committed before RN did too.

so if you were Dabo, and RN was NEVER in the picture - not even giving CLEMSON a sniff at coming here, then you would have recruited all of the Grayson players that we did??? Please tell me you have better sense than that. No - the fact is - we got played. We can stick our heads in the sand and pretend we didn't, but we got played. The sad part is - the entire team knows RN played us. Also future recruits knows he played us. And you guys are okay with this? Sounds like it. Please don't run your personal businesses like that.

What?

RN may have helped Gallman and Kamara get noticed by other schools, but they're still D1 prospects. I believe we would have still recruited both of them, especially Gallman.

You act like Clemson is the only school that offered them and they're unranked recruits who are going to come ride the bench for 4 years.

Next thing your gonna say is that RN decommitted because we didnt offer Ryan Carter

It makes no sense to you that we would recruit at a school where the HC was a college teammate of our HC?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

actually

Nov 9, 2012, 5:35 PM [ in reply to Re: Your right ]

the first thing I wondered after RN decommitted was whether we would still have Kamarra and Gallaman. RN was a great catch, but if RN didn't even exist, I'd say the pickup of those two is a steal. You are delusional if you don't think a 4 star running back regarded as one of the best in the south isn't a great recruit. and we can use all the help we can get with our DB situation.

I don't run my own business, but others pay me 6 figures to run theirs, so maybe some people disagree with you on that. :) and oh yeah - they paid me a $30k bonus last month for the 2-year COMMITMENT that I gave them 2 years ago to stay committed to them. THAT is commitment. Maybe some don't understand that word. I don't play people and I have little use for those who do. I also didn't play people when I was 17-18, even though I was dumb in many things.

pulled in 2 directions. He loves Clemson and he loves his family. Our society teaches us to respect and obey our parents. His mom made it clear that she did not want him to be committed any longer. It's not February.

Gallman was a take all day long. Kamara is far better than Greenlee but certainly more of a take as a "package" deal. Happens all the time. Guys get noticed because of good players. Daniel Andrews and JH. Adam Humphries and Peake.

We are thin in the secondary. Kamara most likely isn't the answer, but it's not like we're turning down DBs. Instead of a walk-on, we get Kamara basically.

Schuessler is a walk-on so who cares. Unless you're Nick Saban, you play the game in recruiting. Sometimes, even Nick has to play along.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson (and Dabo) would never do that. Even if Dabo

Nov 9, 2012, 5:27 PM

offered RN's teammates in the HOPES of getting RN (and I don't know that that's the case), he offered them BEFORE RN committed. He knew there was no guarantee.

These guys are darned good players and will help us down the line. Clemson isn't going to pull any offers. I have no doubt that the coaches are confirming with these guys that RN's decommit doesn't impact their decision. Once our coaches are satisfied that that is the case, this is a non-issie.
