DJU5 will bounce back in 2022

Apr 7, 2022, 3:18 PM

Everything I've read across various sites is that if DJU struggles this year it won't be due to a lack of effort. Word is he's working as hard as an individual possibly can during the off-season. Given the amount of weight he's lost I believe it. I've also heard he's throwing 100+ passes a day to go along with his diet and conditioning. With what should be a more stable offensive line and more experienced WR's will last year prove to be just a sophomore slump?

My prediction for 2022 is he goes into the NCSU game on 10/1 with mounting Heisman hype. I also predict the most dominate topic on this board at the end of the season will be is DJU turning pro or coming back for a final season.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

its obviously a confidence issue or at least last year was. I don't know what to expect. He has accuracy issues, especially on short and intermediate throws. I'm pulling for him. Maybe Cade has him refocused. Iron sharpens Iron.

We have to be much better around him.

We were so bad early in the season. RBs had no experience. Offensive line was below average. We didn't have a true slot WR.

Then the injuries came and DJ's confidence collapsed. And by the end of the season, our top three WRs were two true freshmen and Will Swinney. Our offensive line was mediocre. And our coaches adapted by switching up the running game.

If we can stay healthy, I believe DJ will excel this year. Our offensive line should be better (good, but not great). Brannon Spector, Troy Stellato, Will Taylor, and Antonio Williams will provide something our WRs lacked last year (speed, quickness, route running, and a true slot WR). We are going to have a three headed monster at RB, which teams will have to focus on. Davis Allen, Sage Ennis, and Jake Briningstool will provide the best TE unit we've had in years.

And then there's the defense, especially the defensive line.

Good post with further explanation as to why I think he will have a bounce back season. From a confidence standpoint the Spring Game concerns me a little because much of what you pointed out will still be the case. This team has to get healthy before August and stay somewhat healthy for the duration of the season.

We need to be healthy this year too. The schedule is actually difficult.

Wake Forest should be 3-0 when we travel to Winston Salem

NC State should be 4-0 and in the top 15 when they come to Clemson

Boston College will be tough if Jurkovec and Flowers are healthy

FSU will be better this year

Notre Dame will probably be a top 10 team when we go to them

Miami will probably be in the top 15

South Carolina will be better

We likely end up playing 4-5 ranked teams this year.

Even if he lights it up in the spring game. I’m not sold yet. All last year we were told he was solid in practice but could never translate that to games. There was definitely some kind of psychological issue going on last year. Granted he had a ton of family stuff going on and nil and pressure from fans, but I don’t think we will truly see if there’s been improvement until the first game in the fall.

DJ stares down his receiver almost every passing down. He has to at least pretend that he is surveying the field even if he already knows who is is passing to... If he doesn't change this, it will be another off year.

At least we have options this year.

DJ will have to or he'll be benched early ...

Dabo and Tony had no other option at QB last year. If CK plays well in the Spring game, the debate will be loud and will endure through the season.

Look for Dabo and coaches to put CK at various disadvantages in the Spring game tomorrow to make him "earn it". This was the case in the 2018 Spring game where TL16 greatly outperformed KB2.
