DJ v. Cade.

Does anyone think that Cade is any better? I mean, they are both turn-over machines but at least DJ could flash at times.
Cade's started two games now and I hate to say it, but I would take DJ back if I could.

You make some idiotic posts too, buddy, especially this one but also all the other defenses of last night's horror show.

I actually enjoyed not as many passes thrown into the dirt last night.
I like DJ, but let's be honest when the beavers play a defense with a pulse hes toast.

He did hold on to the ball too long and threw an easy pass into the dirt.
But he also threw some absolute dimes and ran well. I mean, they weren't spirals but hey, 5 TDs against anyone isn't bad.

Both were top 3 rated QBs in their class. I don't believe that they're both busts.
I honestly believe that WR play is the main issue.

Cade was hitting guys in the hands with spirals.
DJ wasn’t the main problem, but he was a problem.

In the same weekend, you have DJ (who many thought was inferior to Cade) in a new scheme/playmakers and he has a Top 15-20 QB rating out if all D1 QB’s that played this weekend by the two QB rating metrics I have seen. (I know it’s bad competition, but he did look very sharp and in a scheme that fit him well)
You also have Cade (who was supposedly superior) who is stuck in the same scheme/playmakers as before and looks almost identical to DJ in terms of production.
IMHO, any argument about who the better QB is just semantics… it’s not our real issue and if you keep the constant of playing with our scheme/playmakers, BOTH have looked equally terrible.

Yup. That’s why I added the playmakers bit… scheme is great and all but when you don’t physically have the WRs/O-Line to be great… 🤷🏼♂️

You do remember that DJ and the 2022 offense scored 41 points in our opener against Ga Tech (one point difference from what he scored this weekend San Jose)..,the only difference is that wasn’t good enough for Clemson fans in 2022.

So that wasn't my read on it, necessarily. The focus became DJ because of the stubborn refusal to put someone else in even when he was obviously struggling. But that's not DJ's fault, it's more the staff/how they chose to go about it. He was the most obvious as the QB, but people were also noting the bad play calling, WR performance dropoff and injuries as well.
Cade's struggles now and against Tennessee can likely be linked directly to him NOT getting the time rotating in like previous quarterbacks we've had (beyond the o-line not protecting and the wr not catching the balls of course). I don't have any confidence that if we had DJ in there tonight that the result would have been different.

Frankly, I think DJ's regression began in that Georgia game, which prompted a hellll of a lot of self-doubt throughout the program. It only worsened.

Poor take

First real start for Cade. He made some poor choices. But his upside is so much higher. With the plays called - DJ would have missed on several of those. The one thing DJ would have done is not slide too early. He might not have gone that far - but he would not have slid.

It is not about DJ v Cade. The issue is all of us have to cherish the memories of 81, 16 and 18 and realize we are just not physical enough to dominate and impose our will and not fast enough to overwhelm the opponent. Practice this week has to be the hardest most intense sine Dabo took over. We will win the next 2 games but have to prove we can beat a team on our level.

I don’t understand the argument here.
1. At least Cade moved in the pocket last night. Even if it wasn’t always a good move, he at least was sensing the pressure and trying to do something about it.
2. Not once did Cade miss a wide open receiver. Hit every curl route on the sideline (none of them sailing too high out of bounds or hitting the dirt). Delivered the screens and throws to the flat accurately and quickly.
DJ consistently struggled with both of those things. I’ll agree that Cade was inaccurate on the long throws, but one of his interceptions hit the hands of our receiver first. Cade also showed he can make plays with his legs, something DJ only did on designed QB runs.

valid points. I believe our problens began before DJ's arrival, were multifold upon his takeover and were accented with his level of play.
I really wish DJ the best, hoping he excels at Oregon State. I appreciate his efforts here, but I think there was a big disconnect at the beginning of his season up under center that only worsened as time progressed. In his defense he wasn't helped by our offensive strategy, regardless of whoever was calling plays.
Sometimes, high school talent doesn't pass muster at the collegiate level, but all my close contacts in Texas, including several directly connected with football there, keep reminding me that Cade played for one of the largest schools at the highest 6A level and led his team to straight titles. Hence, the talent is there, probably requiring some tweaking, but it's there. It's directly on our staff to develop and utilize it,

With the lousy receivers we have, the quarterback will have to run a lot, so I would take Klubnik because he's faster.

DJ was a failed experiment in our scheme. Not to say DJ was/is a bad QB, but he didn't work out here.
Cade is a work in process. I'd take Cade.
Mobility is the key with our OL.
