Did Bentley stay back a year in school?

They keep saying that he skipped his senior year of high school and turned 19 years old in November 2016. I turned 18 on my first day of class at Clemson and I didn't skip a year. I don't get what is impressive about his age. Aren't most people 18 when they begin college?

because their coach fathers wanted them to grow before high school. I don't know that it ever worked out.

Uhhh. The guy was 6-3 and 210 as a senior. Doubt it was because his dad wanted him to grow.

Most likely received a waiver to start kindergarten late. Just a guess. Not un-cmmon practice for families placing an "emphasis" on raising an athlete. Especially the foosball.

Yes. His father "red-shirted" him in elementary or jr high. He wanted all his boys to play quarterback but Jake and his older brother were only 3 years apart. By staying back, they could each be qb for 4 years.

He was "reclassed" in middle school I believe... that's the term these days
