Man I miss those guys, truly were spoiled. I love Klubnik but he (like99% of college QB’s) is not on that level.

I also miss those guys but I also miss the grit, determination
and the toughness of Tajh Boyd. I know he didn't win a natty
or beat the coots but he was a good QB. I'll take those all
year.

💯and looking forward to getting back there but gonna take some adjustments in their approach to recruiting and coaching positions I’m afraid. We really list our edge when BV left.

Defense isn’t a fundamental problem.

Our schemes are very good, our secondary has reasserted themselves and are playing very well, our FR DL stars are learning that they have to control their gap while engaged in pass rush.

Defense’s big problem has been with underperformance from LBs and nickel back in recognizing and then covering RBs sneaking out of the backfield for short passes. Duke got big gains repeatedly using these plays.

Also, our LB unit, overall, has got to tackle better.

These problems are fixable. FL Atlantic will be trying the RB out-of-backfield short passes against us. Of course. They are watching our game tape and running those type of deception plays are what every opponent of ours will try until we show that we can (will) stop it.

BV’s defenses had gaps / holes that appeared in numerous games. BV’s brilliance was in making in-game adjustments or in retraining the relevant D unit(s) to correct those gaps / holes before the next game had started.

If Goodwin isn’t successful in addressing the short (& damaging) pass plays by our opponent, with proof of that success being revealed in FL Atlantic game, then I’ll jump in on your lament about BV being gone. As of the pre-game 3 stage of our season, I’m optimistic that Goodwin will get that problem fixed for FL Atlantic game.
