I did watch another version of this story on Netflix called Painkiller. Ferris Bueller was in that one. Also pretty good.

That's a good one. Have a few cousins that went down that road. One is dead, the other is on methadone now, and don't really know what happened to the other. It's really ugly situation. That stuff was way over prescribed for too long. Don't want to blame it all on the medical field, but some doctors had a hand in this problem.

Just finished this novel from 2022 that won the author Barbara Kingsolver, the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.


It takes place in SW VA and East TN and depicts the damage the opioid crisis has caused in Appalachia.

It is riveting.

Short memory here.

So sad - horrible addiction. My BIL watched it before my wife had knee trauma and surgery. They prescribed Oxy and he begged her not to take it. She took it but not for long. Son took it for his back surgery about five years ago.
