Day 10 with the Covid: I think the Covid is pretty much gone

Dec 23, 2022, 9:26 AM

now, thank the Lord. Butt, my emergency foray out into the cold yesterday morning to help out a friend has left me with a great case of the winter sniffles this morning. I think it may finally be time to pop the cork on one of those bottles I bought the other day. Evan Williams or Makers Mark, which do you guys suggest first, and how best to imbibatory them? This could be important stuff, it is supposed to get down to 15 F tonight here in Orangeburg, and stay below freezing all day tomorrow.

If I were still working, I would know that the chemical plant is in for some rough times. (They still are, I know, even though I don't have to be there to suffer with them!) Anytime the temperature doesn't make it above freezing for 24 straight hours, cooling pipes in outlying areas where the water sits without moving much freeze, burst, and provide sad surprises for the maintenance crews for the next couple days as things thaw out. Making any sort of production becomes secondary to just having the equipment survive the cold. My thoughts will be with my former brothers (and sisters) in arms at the chemical plants, all of them, across the country. I pray that this cold costs only equipment, and no human lives.

OK, that turned morbid real quick. My wife just walked in the door, making her Florence Nightengale rounds between our house and her mom's house. I have developed a newfound, even more mazing respect for her over these last two weeks. I already knew she was a strong woman, but she has been Superwoman fighting Covid herself, caring for her mom and brother, and for us at home as well these last two weeks. I don't know where she gets the strength. Every now and then, just for a second or two, I see the facade crack, but then she just gets back up and keeps going. I married an amazing woman, and among any Christmas gifts this year, I am most thankful I still have her.

Good to hear 76. I'm starting to wonder if I've got the Vid myself. Lots of sniffles and post nasal drip and a burning sensation around my nose. Hopefully I'm wrong. If drinking it neat or over ice my vote would be Makers. If mixing, EW

Well 76er your Covid apparently was extremely bad. I got it this week but it hasn’t been bad. I have a problem with the paxlovid my doctor gave me. It is leaving a horrible taste in my mouth and no matter what I do it want go away. Package had that stated so guess I will just go with it. Apparently we married the same type of woman as mine is taking extremely good care of me. She brings my meals up and puts them on my tray outside the master suite and hot coffee or water or whatever. Hopefully by Monday I can test negative. I’m really hoping she doesn’t come down with this crap.

My wife complained of a very bitter taste in her mouth all

the time with the Covid. Never figured it might be the Paxlovid. MY drag ar$e Doc of course just prescribed one of the two meds that is in Paxlovid, instead of doing the specific Pavlovid dose pack like my wife's specialist Doc prescribed for her.

76,

Jesus, 10 days ! Start with the Maker's Mark - and have a double. You deserve it. I hope your recovery is short and complete.

I had it in May, felt like a mild hangover, but my sense of taste has been off ever since. Glad you pulled through 76!
