danny ford, va beach recruiting, devon hunter

Apr 30, 2016, 1:02 PM

danny ford mentioned in an interview once that the virginia beach area was rich with athletes but most schools couldnt get their grade standards low enough to recruit there. forgot if he said we could but did say that the coach for unc during the 80s made a living recruiting that area.
was watching 81 unc game and #95nt william fuller blows up both mcswain and jordan before they can even make exchange in backfield. he was from chesapeake, va.
isnt devon hunter as well? we cannot lose this guy.

Don't know much about Chesapeake schools, but I used to work for a VA Beach based company that had a store in Chesapeake. Busiest store in the chain and one of the best for upmarket sales. I took it as being an upscale area, and usually translated to higher socioeconomic conditions, it did in other markets. That usually translates to better academic performance, although I don't know for sure in this case.

With all his success, his highest salary was $25,000 a year. The president of the university, Dr. R. F. Poole, feared that professors who earned less would be upset. "He called me up and said that he didn't want me to tell anybody what I made," Howard once said. "I said: 'Doc, you don't have to worry. I'm as ashamed as you are of what you pay me.'
