HLRT, I like you and other posters in this thread. And that may mean nothing, but Bill is a good guy. Deep tiger roots and many positive contributions to Tiger Net and Clemson for that matter. He does like to provoke thought, but his intentions are good, so I only ask for that angle to be looked at. He isn't trolling, only sparking dialogue. Believe me, lots of trolls here only to stir up trouble, but I truly believe LBB isn't one of them. Merry Christmas

My opinion is he’s become a troll since our “down fall” and someone with his “history” should have a better perspective. We need people like him to support us and talk about our history and not bash Dabo and recent short comings.. Dabo earned the right to try things his way, it worked, then didn’t work and now he’s fixing it. LBB bashes us and praises the coots and dawgs every chance he gets. I appreciate his contributions but people change, similar to his thoughts on Dabo.

old friend going back into the mid-sixties at Clemson.
As the News Editor (prior to serving as the Editor-in-Chief) of "The Tiger," the Clemson student newspaper, I knew Bill was a highly respected writer and columnist for our Sports Department. He knew the staffs and most of the athletes, yet maintained a critical approach to his work, which was demanded. That meant, sometimes, he pointed out the bad, as well as the good, from his viewpoint. The paper won regional and national accolades, eventually the most coveted award of the day, the All American, naming it one of the top 25 nationally..,awards of which the University was extrenely proud! And Bill's work contributed to the importance and renown of the paper.
In our time at Clemson "The Tiger" was one of the most powerful and important organizations on campus, as it was the main form of communication, not only on campus but in the community, as well. Clemson didn't have a journalism school, yet its Editors and staff members were diligent for the most part to publish adhering to journalistic standards. Bill learned and followed those traditions.
Most of what I read posted by Bill has been highly supportive, sometimes critically so, sometimes whimsical, even far-reaching. But I never...repeat never have questioned his loyalty to Clemson nor our programs, loyalty that goes back some 60+ years. Typically, I read his posts more than once, as that usually helps me better understand his drift, a practice I had during my days as an Editor. And, frankly, HLRT, I really haven't read anything that has particularly upset my apple cart.

I do not want to suffer the grief of losing any of my children or grandchildren. There are few posters here who I feel akin to. LightBulbBill is near the top of that list.
