Dabo needs to get rid of some "friends" and hire proven coaches.

Look I love former Tigers as much as anyone but as a lot of us know the being good at the job doesn't mean you would be good at training/coaching it. It's just like in business. And I believe our main #1 problem is Dabo hiring friends instead of well proven coaches. We have Tyler Grisham as WR coach and CJ as RB coach and Thomas Austin as O Line coach. None of them have proven anything anywhere as a coach. I think CJ is proving himself hereto be a great coach and recruiter but to think you can just hire anyone and train them to be the best seems silly. I just question Dabo now leaning on hiring friends and former players than proven coaches with long track records like his previous hires were.

I'm not sure any OC can do much with how poorly our players are coached. I wouldn't be surprised if Riley just jumps ship to a head coaching opportunity if it gets bad enough.

Confused…What is Riley’s job? Is he not the coach of the offense?

I'm not sure you understand the Offensive coordinator does not coach the WR and OL. Those are coached by people who have never coached anywhere else with zero experience.

But do not agree Garrett Riley is the fall guy for this bad Offense with all Dabo-hired Offensive Staff who Riley has had to train and coach up all season. And all Dabo-recruited players, receivers and o-line. And whether Dabo is calling plays or not, he's clearly in Cade's ear all game. On the sideline, Riley cannot get near Klubnik. Dabo is constantly chatting him up.

I sort of feel bad for Riley.
"Hey Riley our O Line cant block anyone on Facebook and our best receiver is a TE that runs a 4.7 40. It's 4th and 20. Whats the play coach"

Still no identity on offense is concerning. This offense is worse than last year and that is saying something. I’m just saying I am not impressed at all with the play calling. If the OL is weak get the guy out of the pocket and some easy throws. At least try to establish a running game especially against a 3 man front. Play calling is pathetic. Being on Dabo or Garrett makes me no difference it’s bad.

I’m not saying GR should be labeled the fall guy but you do need to adapt your offense to the personnel you were dealt until you can get your players in there. Still have no clue what we are trying to do on that side of the ball.

Dabo turned highly rated recruits into well polished ... blobs let's call them,.. and you expect Riley to work magic with that?
Fire Grisham and Austin immediately. Hall maybe. Goodwin on the hot seat (see our LB regression and not blitzing a freaking freshman QB).

Did y’all not see on the sideline right before the timeout by NC St on the 4th and 19 play?
Dabo calls the play looks at Riley and tells him what it is and Riley turns to look at the offense on the field and holds up 1 finger for whatever play that is.
Go back and watch the broadcast. It’s right after the timeout by NC St on the 4th and 19 play. That shows you Dabo is making the calls and relaying them to Riley who relays it to the offense.
This is not Garrett Riley’s air raid offense he was running ag SMU/TCU and he’s not being allowed to call the plays at all. Dabo makes the call and gives it to Riley who then calls it in to the offense.
Dabo is running this show through and through. So he’s literally spoon feeding the guy who won the award for the nations BEST assistant coach last season and got his team to the national championship game but he leaves Goodwin all alone to do whatever he wants on defense.
The defensive #s may look good but this defense is not the Clemson defense we’re used to. Against Miami and NC St the last 2 games we’ve faced backup QBs and lost both games. Yes the offense gets a lot of blame for sure.
But as Dabo said in the presser… the D was great except for 2 plays. But that’s exactly the problem for literally every defense in America. You can be great for 98% of the game except for 2/3/4 plays but if those 2/3/4 plays all go for big TDs then what’s it matter how they played the rest of the game?
This defense has given it up when we needed stops the most. They did it against Duke. They did it against FSU. They did it against Miami and they then did it again today.
So what we held them to 202 total yards and who cares if on 2 plays they got 175 of that 202. You still gave it up when we needed stops bc you know the offense is struggling and is not going to muster up 28-35 points. Those 2/3 plays you do give up will almost always be the difference and once again today… that was the difference.
Let me make it clear. The offense deserves more blame and even much more blame but this defense is not innocent and it’s not the aggressive attacking Tiger defense that we were used to. Everybody points to what our defensive stat rankings are.
Well you just wait until we face offenses that can actually move the ball like oh… I don’t know… Notre Dame and NC… who just happen to be coming up. Watch what those offenses do to our defense.

I just rewatched the game and you are right... Dabo seems to be calling everything. Not sure exactly what the point of hiring the best coordinator/playcaller in the nation if you dont use him.

Somebody needs to grab Dabo by his ears and look him in the eye and say “You dont ever hire your friends and family for your business because you will end up broke with no friends or family.” And make him Nod like a little kid that he understands. Hire a man, tell him to hire who he needs to do his job, and hold him accountable.

While we're on the subject of former players on the staff, what is Tajh's role? And this isn't a nock or compliment to him, truly trying to understand. I see him when the camera pans the sideline and I know we're restricted by how many we can have on the side, so just curious how he contributes?
