Stadium Expansion?

IF Clemson can make it to the SEC would fan excitement/demand call for an expansion of your stadium? It's not small but SEC fans from other teams travel well and almost every game has a bowl game air to it. Can you imagine Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma coming there? Let that sink in. Wouldn't that be excitement at the highest level?

I think the SEC would consistently send fans to Clemson and vice-versa. I don’t have that confidence in the B1G.

Don’t need to be in the SEC to have premiere matchups. We don’t have to imaging UGA, AU, T A&M, and u of SC coming here; they’ve already played here in recent years. Also, we don’t need the visiting team to travel well in order to sell out games. The ACC allotment for visiting teams is 4K and we still sell out those games. We’re not gonna expand our stadium to accommodate more visiting fans. Like another poster said, our future expansions will be about increasing premium seating areas.

Clemson and SC have an existing agreement in place for the visiting team to receive something like 15K tickets. Clemson used to have a similar agreement with UGA before the rivalry ended.

Fan excitement is already through the roof here. A 247 poll last week said the same.
Our stadium is better than any (except the hot dogs are crap).
Most of those teams you mention have been here.
Off the top of my head is Georgia, USuCk, Auburn, LSU, TAM, have been here and lost.
The last time TN came here yall lost 14-0.
The last time Kentucky came here they lost 24-6.
The last time I saw Tigers vs TN was live at the Peach Bowl and we kicked ###. Chad Jasmin ran all over yall who were #6 in the nation as I recall. It was a fun Bowl to be at.
I would like to see Clemson play all those teams often, especially Florida, TN, and UGA.

That Peach Bowl game was at the very root of our climb to top of the tree. I believe that was a Whitehurst game. Following that was our huge win over LSU. From there on we started adding tombstones like crazy.

would have more visiting fans if we join the SEC. Therefore, I could see capacity being increased to around 90,000. That would be an increase of 8,500 seats. In general, it is rare these days to see any stadium increases.
I have a question and don't mean to be flaming or such. You have come over with some interesting questions and in good nature. However, I am wondering if Tennessee is still dealing with the NCAA investigation that cost the previous coach (drawing a blank on his name), his job? I remember the university president having a huge press conference, etc.
Again, the reason I'm asking is because much of what they may have been accused of (not even sure what that was), is likely legal now. At the time, it seemed UT seemed to be in about the worst position possible, sanctions maybe coming, players leaving, coaches fired. Then Tennessee made a great hire and they may have as bright a future as anyone.

No one thinks highly of themself. The conference well being is foremost. What good is it if a school plays with a bunch of junior high schools week in and week out to stay undefeated hoping to get to the playoff? If asked would I want a really good Tennessee team in one of the weakest of conferences or would I want them to be good in the best? I would have to say the latter. Yes, we do pull together. There are heated rivalries but, in the end, if UT cannot take the title then I hope some other SEC team does. If we lose out on some 4 or 5 star players then I want them to sign with another SEC team. How else are you going to keep the best conference the best? We fight but have to pull together.
I just gave examples of every week game possibilities not happenstance games that come about once in a while or over the years. Yes, there is a major difference getting good games a couple times a year versus four, five or six a year. Being beat on week in and week out does make a difference in game outcomes over the course of a season.
Looking to the past to rub in game results is, really, childish. One has to keep looking forward, making plans, and striving to be your best and do what makes the conference better. PULLING TOGETHER to make the conference better is the key. Rising water levels raises all boats.
Nothing will become of the Tennessee investigation as what they were doing was, and is now, legally going on everywhere. I don't condone it but that is true.

No, I do not envision Memorial Stadium going through a massive expansion. Football attendance is decreasing across the country, even at SEC schools. Go back and look at Tennessee’s attendance last season. I remember the years that Neyland was packed for every single home game. Those days are over. Memorial Stadium at Clemson has a listed capacity of 81,500. I believe that I read the new capacity may be a little less when the West End Zone project is completed. As someone stated on here earlier, any changes to Memorial Stadium will involve premium seats.

They don't want to admit it but falling in and supporting BLM, the Woke agenda and liberal policies has hurt college football. Our ex-coach jumped in and supported BLM. UT was going to wear black jerseys against Kentucky, auction them off at the end of the game and give all proceeds to Black Lives Matter. There was such an outroar of disgust that UT scrapped that idea and came up with another. Erect four former player statues outside of Neyland but be sure all were black players. Racism at its best. Just one example of fan loss that will never come back. Many refuse to watch any sport in person or on tv over liberalism support. This drops support as well for all sports.
Infighting as to whom stays as the coach and whom gets fired has really hurt, too. UT has had the money to make great hires. Don't know their standing today but they were always in the top three spending on recruiting at over 100 million per year. Facilities? Spend 200 million to upgrade and three years later do it again ...... this is the arms race.
Really enjoy your board. I come over as a friend and am pulling for you to fall in with us as a conference brother if at all possible. I did the same with Texas A&M when this came up with them. Bought one of their tshirts that was maroon in color (their school color), had their name and logo on the front and above that the words "SECede". Would be cool for you to do the same. Was a great shirt and they sold a bunch of them.

Closing in the east end zone is the only realistic way to significantly expand seating capacity. If top deck south was as high as top deck north, that would add a few thousand. Don't think that is feasible for construction.
East end zone expansion is just not a good idea for several reasons:
It would just add a lot of end zone seats. Forgive me for saying so, but end zone seats, particularly upper deck ones are just not a good vantage point for watching football. I know they're popular at places like UT, UF, UGA, aTm, LSU, and Bama, but we are not fans of end zone seats. Even Auburn knows that upper deck end zone seats just suck.
It would remove one of the main roads through campus and greatly complicate 'running down the hill'.
It would kill the character of Memorial Stadium. The open east end offers an incredible uphill view of campus with the Tillman Hall clock tower at the top center of the view. Would be terrible to lose that just for some crappy general admission upeer deck end zone seats.
