Dabo trying to prove he doesn’t need great coordinators

Nov 28, 2022, 7:39 PM

Is proving he needs great coordinators. Turns out while other successful programs look nationwide for talented assistants, it may not be all that awesome to only look across the room.

Dabo can’t succeed without great coordinators

He’s a great leader and CEO type coach…….and that’s fine, but he was NEVER a play caller and never should be.

Dabo thinks people less privileged can do great work like him!

That experiment needs to be over. Not everyone has the ability to be a graduate assistant or analyst then be a great coach because they love Clemson. It is time to hire great coaches, that is what got him to the Apex, hiring wannabe coaches are bring him down to CTB level and maybe less without immediate change!

Hard-headed is all I can say at this point.

Yes. He thinks every “underdog” he touches will turn into Renfrow.

Just not gonna happen.

I think what he is trying to prove is that he knows how to develop his coaches the way he wants them to be. Ego and pride have reared their ugly heads this year.

If he makes changes it won’t be until the season is over (except bowl game), and he isn’t going to talk down about him ever. I don’t think we’ll know until later what Dabo has in mind to do.

And, quite honestly, it isn’t our business, Fans have NO say so in how a team is coached. If you don’t like the way the coach does his job... Quit attending the games! I promise you, there are thousands who want your seat.

This is literally just the worst take

The school hires coaches who will please the FANS. The coach is hired help, the fans and players are Clemson. We were here before him and will be after, like it has been with every coach. Sure he’ll do things his way. And as long as it works we’ll praise him. But no one is stupid enough to see the decline we’ve been on, culminating in a loss to a complete clown show rival, and not call out our current mercenary..

Lol. If people want seats bad enough then they can pay for it…..

There’s not a line.

Dabo has also proven that he can have 10 win seasons two in a row without a QB!

I think Dabo made a BIG mistake not even considering outside people for the co-ordinators positions. The inability to bring in new blood will weaken our program over the short and long run. That being said, I think ANY new co-ordinators might have had similar problems in their first year here at Clemson.

I think Goodwin has come a long way this year. NOBODY was going to replace BV without some hiccups, but the defense has dealt with injuries to key players and they have gotten better as the season has progressed. We are ranked 21st in total defense - its not BV but it ain't no reason to be calling to get rid of Goodwin.

Now on the offensive side of the ball, the picture is not so pretty - we are ranked 54th. That is unacceptable and some serious introspection and reconsideration need to be an off-season top priority, but I want to be fair to Street. His options have been severely limited by a slow QB and a WR corp that cannot seem to get separation. I think he has done far better with that (and in coaching up DJ) than TE did in 2021, so let's give some credit where credit is due. I have coached in situations where we had to recognize the significant limitations of a position player and scheme around them - it ain't easy. And as much as we all hoped that CK would be the solution to last year's woes, it is entirely possible that he is just not ready yet.

OLT, Sometimes the stars align, and I think Jeff Scott being available right now is too good to pass up. I don't know what title he might be given, but bringing him back would sure seem to be a step in the right direction - for him and for Clemson.
