D-Line next year?

Dec 1, 2014, 4:15 PM

I’m feeling pretty good about our interior with Reader, Watson, Watkins & Pagano, but I’m concerned about DE.

Who will start opposite of Lawson?

Ogundecko & Register were pretty highly regarded out of HS from my understanding, but they’re young…How are Dodd, Aiken, Rogers & Byars?

Is the Yeargin kid gonna play DE or OLB? He seems to be a Vic Beasley type size wise.

They way I see it, if we find a rush DE, our starting front 4 will be very good, but we'll lack the depth we had this year. Same with our LB's. Our secondary will perhaps be one of the best in the nation assuming Blanks comes back healthy. Replacing the leadership of guys like Grady Jarrett and Robert Smith will be critical as well. I say we stay in the top-20 stats wise but have top-10 potential.

Watson is gone also, but Watkins, Reader, Pagano will be fine. I think Ebo starts on the other side, but Dodd, Yeargin, Rogers, and Aiken will certainly get shots.

Aiken is undersized but seems to have good speed.

Hopefully Albert Huggins will be getting a shot in the line up ;)

Will take a significant step back

along the DL and at LB. Can't lose what we are losing on defense and expect to be a top ten-twenty D. We should be OK overall but don't see us being in the top 30 next year.

Offense will have to carry the water against quality teams.

This is the best part of college football - somebody has to step up each year with the rotating players for every team.

Agreed.

We are losing quite a bit after this season...a ton of continuity..

I am confident in Boulware and Rogers will be significant next season...

Secondary we should be alright with Mack and Kearse coming back...

The End positions are what really scare me...we will have to see...

We have the best defensive staff and DC. Trust them to prepare our guys and get them better. Some of them probably could've contributed at other schools. Our 2 deep was ridiculous this year with talent but the next guys up learned from some studs. 2015 will be a rebuilding year on defense but I look for the offense to carry the load and the defense to get better and better as the year goes on. In Venables I trust.
