ignorance of the law is not an excuse, but surely someone with a reasonable point-of-view will determine it was an innocent mistake not worthy of a felony charge.

...it doesn't seem that there are many left in NYC with "reasonable" points of view. I hope he gets a fair shake, though. This is an easy mistake to make, and I've done it a few times (not with firearms, thank god). I'm sure DB will learn from this and never let it happen again.

books today, I think ignorance of the law could be an excuse. I mean, seriously, who in their right mind would think if you have a pistol, a magazine, and bullets held separately in a locked container, that you are carrying a loaded gun. If you are driving down the highway in New York with an unbroken bottle of Maker's Mark, are you legally driving under the influence, or would it just be "Open Container"?
