Atlanta sucks. It's a ######## ran by morons who's intent is to keep it a #### hole, which is why people left the city in droves.
I lived there for 15 years. I wouldn't move back to the metro area for less than $750k salary and $3M in equity. Even then the closest I'm getting is Forsyth county.
Eff that place and all the morons who prop it up without calling out how it's a ####### ########.

Atlanta is still a pretty great and affordable city to live, which is why it's among the fastest growing metros in the country. From personal experience, I've lived here 17 years and am raising a relatively smart & happy kid within the city limits, and can somehow scrape by with less than $750k in total annual comp.
Sorry you had a terrible time for a decade-and-a-half, though---hope you found somewhere better for you. Bless your heart.

750k wasn't driven by affordability haha. that's what it would take for me to leave where I am now and move to Atlanta. even then, the closest I'd probably get is Milton.
14 of my 15 years were great. that last 6-7 months though, plus seeing the light of living somewhere else...yeah man, I got no reason to ever go back.
I have to go back for a conference in a couple weeks. staying DT. I'd rather change poopy diapers while having covid and a stomach bug for a week than deal w/ that #### for a couple days.

We have to be one of the inexplicably worst driving states in the U.S. I can't fathom how I can drive on a two-lane Interstate in other states where traffic flows fine but I-26 is always jammed every day at every time.
It's like a magic switch is flipped with driving idiocy the moment you leave GA or NC and enter our state.

Yesterday I passed no less than 6 people walking on the wrong side of the road, 8-9 people driving without lights on at dawn/dusk.
And I think outside of me and a few cops no one knows how a 4 way stop works.
