Could Clemson just announce they were leaving the ACC...

and apply for either conference while they look? Would the BIG10 or SEC pick them up because of it. I'm sure it's impossible because of the GOR. USC and UCLA said they were leaving the PAC12 and applying to the BIG10. Just a question.

To have a shot at getting out of the ACC, I think we need an invite from SEC or B1G first, so we could use the "competitive clause" if it exist as has been posted.

Perhaps Clemson and others need to let the ACC know it is not competitive financially and unless they can fix it will need to look at other options. This MIGHT wake them up to find a way to go big instead of some vague loose arrangement.

If they can write a check for one hundred million dollars, sure they can leave.

Not on its own, but if we could get FSU, Miami, Va Tech,

UNC, NC State, Louisville and Pitt to join us in that announcement it would be enough to kill the ACC as it stands today and start over with something that might have some football legs to it.

And GA tech. Need the Atlanta market. Then find 8 others - Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and TCU.
Each would play 2 games in the other time zones and 4 games in your own time zone. Then each would have 4 ooc opponent.

It'd be nice to have Ga Tech associated but I don't see them being one of the 8 that would agree to either kill or reset the ACC. IMO they are one of those that gets more than they give, which is why we're in the pickle we're in.

I wish someone could do an analysis of the CFP/Bowl $

Clemson has brought into the league in the past ten years, or even since the GOR/TV contract was made. And even analyze the viewership of games versus other ACC teams during that period. Then let them explain how the league as a whole has been competitive on Clemson's behalf (in the name of the ACC).

Hate to sound ugly but in football there is a huge drop off in the haves and have nots in the ACC. FSU when they ran the conference was on a whole other level then the rest of the conference. Few great years for Miami, and VT had a great run. All had great coaches retire or move on and they never recovered. Man I know how that feels. Felt like we were in the wilderness for a long time after Ford was let go.
