Coots make distinguished national honor! L O L

As 8th worst school in the country. Hilarious.

"8. University of South Carolina
Established in South Carolina in 1801, this school has a reputation for poor academics, terrible campus life, and an overall negative image. With limited course offerings, unqualified professors, and a dismal graduation rate of 42%, students face challenges in both learning and socializing. Filthy dorms and bad food add to the woes. Despite being famous for being a party school, it has found itself on multiple lists of the worst colleges in America. Prospective students must consider the average debt of $24,692 when evaluating this institution."

A serious question: Have you ever, personally heard anyone from another SEC school cheer for South Carolina in a football game? Coot history of temporarily adopting other schools is well known, but how about vice versa?

That's a good point. As a UGA fan I've rooted for Auburn and even Florida to win on occasion. The only time I can ever recall rooting for SC was the Tennessee game last season. I was sick of hearing about the Vols. This year, I'll be back to hoping Tennessee crushes them.

Their graduation rate is almost twice that for starters and they have been replacing dorms as fast as or faster than Clemson in the past 5-10 years. I always like a good poke at our rivalry but I live in Columbia and for an urban campus, the Coots have a lot of state of the art buildings going on and have dumped tons of $ into what used to be industrial/warehouse areas that used to exist around d the stadium also. It’s not the same campus as the 80’s and 90s. They are also probably 6th out of the 16 SEC schools academically so most of the Deep South still lags behind them.

I’ve also live in Columbia up until a few years ago. And worked near the campus downtown.

Don’t know what you’re seeing but it’s still an urban campus where you can’t tell the difference between the city and the college. There are pan handlers all over the downtown area and campus. Students, especially females are advised not to be in the downtown areas after dark, especially alone. And there are still warehouses near Williams Brice. The cute little trees and some landscaping haven’t helped.
Their Greek Village is constantly trashed on the weekends, especially during football season.

29212 isn’t really Columbia proper and nowhere close to the university or downtown. It’s St.Andrews/Irmo. A good place to live for public schools and access to work, shopping, etc

Yep 29212 is about 25 minutes from downtown/USC campus. It’s the St Andrews/Broad River/Bush River Rd areas. But it’s also suffering urban decay. The Wal Mart off of Bush River Rd had to close a few years ago because so much merchandise was being stolen out of the store.

The brand new Wally World on Broad River closed abruptly after a few months (2019?) Too much merchandise walking out. Last time I passed by, still standing empty.

I have many neighbors around Lake Murray, who moved here in the past 4 or 5 years from the midwest or northeast!

and I pity the poor souls who call that dump of a city “home”.

Unfortunately, craplumbia is in the territory I cover for work and every time I have to spend more than 1 day there I’m forced to share a crappy hotel with a bunch of loser kids who attend the school there because I was told they don’t have enough housing for students. Actually, I loathe even driving through that craptown on my way to the coast but it is utterly unavoidable.

In all fairness, about 30 of these schools fall into the same classification: high tuition to future earnings ratio. A school has to charge enough to make the budget, AND they don't tell their students what to major in. Are we really going to be mad when a career pays $30K annually and that college costs $40K annually? I mean, who's in the wrong here?

But they all out trashed USuC in so many areas it was just a riot.

That is a pathetic list of colleges, with USC and Morris College neck and neck for the worst.
And considering the top 2 worst colleges on the list are closed, that really puts USC at 6th.

I am not a Carolina fan but I don’t know where this website gets its data. According to US News & World Report, Carolina has a 67% 4-year graduation rate, which is respectable. Clemson’s is 65%. So that list is not “distinguished”.
