Confession.

Never in my worst Clemson nightmare did I ever expect to see a passing game performance as bad as that one.
Receivers not getting open. Open receivers not being thrown to. Open receivers being thrown to and dropping the ball. Open receivers being thrown to and the pass was so bad Jerry Rice couldn't have touched it, much less caught it. Passes being thrown so bad that I couldn't even tell who the intended target was.
So, what was the problem? Lack of talent. Talent there, but poor coaching. Poor game planning. Poor play calling. Poor execution.
Plenty of blame to go around. And anybody who points to only 1 person or group (DJ, WRs, Streeter, Dabo) is leaving out 3 other people.
I don't know what percentage of blame belongs to each of the above people. I won't claim to know how to fix it. But, I do know Dabo's job is to fix it. That's why he gets the big bucks.

I largely agree with you, but I do think that with a better throwing quarterback, the receivers would look a heck of a lot better.

Dabo had a point to prove. And losing a rivalry game isn’t too big a price for us to pay for him to prove it.

Well, having a point to prove and proving it are two different things. I agree, we lost by him trying to prove a point. Hopefully only two more games to prove his point.

That is a TERRIBLE response. Dabo is not that petty or prideful.

Truthfully, I was not surprised. I don't know how you could

be surprised after watching the last 25 games.
Even "good" DJ has not been great. So his performance when the pressure was on did not surprise me.
Aside from A. Williams and B. Collins, the other receivers played just how they have all season.
The play calling is a bit of a head scratcher. I expected more creativity, like we showed against FSU. It feels like the coaches create a self fulfilling cycle of failure because the worse the offense plays, the more vanilla the play calls get, which makes it even harder for the players to get out of their funk and gain confidence. This is the cycle that USUC finally broke against UT.
Dabo needs to re-evaluate all aspects of the offense. Scheme, play calling and position coaching (especially WR and QB). He also needs to find a way to end DJ's Clemson career. He is obviously not accurate enough to be a consistent pocket passer and he is way to slow to be a dual threat against teams that don't have far inferior talent.

I, respectfully, take exception to parts of your statements.

A QB who can't find a receiver that is open is apt to take the heart out of route running. Our guys looked like they tried to catch the ball but even when one got behind the defense running free he was overthrown. That can take the heart out of the entire offense and even frustrate a good defense to see that happen.
You make a good list of the issues but never addressed the failure of the WR as being the results of a QB who can hit a nail on the head in practices then flop during the games.
How do you coach a QB who hits the nail on the head during practices then goes totally brain dead when the ball is snapped? My main criticism of our coaching staff is that they missed when they recruited DJ.
I can't address why Cade doesn't play more. It's beyond my understanding of this particular situation but I insist that it's nearly impossible to think he is lesser able than DJ.

Never got the TE's involved. Pretty bad when you have more punts 9 in a game than completions 8. Especially when 5 completions were behind the los.
Bret, the defense needs to be addressed also. It was like Wake game all over.

I didn't address the underlying problem on any of my observations. My limited coaching experience and my limited understanding gained from being 71 years old have taught me that the underlying problem is usually far more complex than it appears to be.
I don't know how much to blame DJ, the WRs, the game plan, the play calling, the lack of improvement in the players etc.
I do know that Dabo gets paid a lot of money to diagnose the situation and correct it. I think he will.

Couldn’t agree more. Except I only have 60 years of understanding that there are no easy answers.

Making coaching changes on offense is a necessity not a maybe.

The offense starts with scripted plays the first couple series. Once they run through those it’s dart throwing time. All 3 Dabo/Streeter/DJ demonstrate zero understanding of game flow and how to call plays that manipulate what the defense is showing.
All 3 are handicapping each other.

And go look at Brennan Armstrong's stats this year. It's like the same thing is happening at UVA.

The only way Dabo can fix this one is to swallow his pride and admit he monked this one up…..but he will make the necessary changes to get it fixed like firing Streeter, benching DJ, and hiring an offensive coordinator who actually knows what the crap he is doing out there. That would go along way in fixing this mess!

I'll bite.
Problem 1 is DJ Problem 2 is Spector is not a D1 Wr. Problem 3 is EJ Williams is a fringe D1 wr. Problem 4 is the OC didn't realize the QB keep on the read option was open all game(maybe that's how you use Cade)
