Completely off-topic of Clemson football (Notre Dame game)

Nov 4, 2012, 9:10 PM

I am just now hearing about the missed penalty against ND - on the play where the Pitt kicker missed the game winner in OT.

Two players on field at same time with same jersey number for ND. Was this just swept under the rug? I was flipping channels and perhaps missed if there was any discussion during the actual moments after the miss.

Lucky domers.

That is probably not the easiest call to make as a ref. There is way too much going on to make sure everyone has different numbers on

I guess? I thought they had an obligation to do a headcount on every play (especially big ones) - to safeguard against illegal substitution penalties (too many men on field, etc).

But yeah - I guess heat of the moment, could be missed. Just seems typical of the Luck o' the Irish.

Yeah. Much easier to make a phantom PI call on 3rd & long.***

While Pitt utterly blew it, you could point to this and say "the refs *gave* ND a free touchdown, and they won in overtime". #### ND, and the refs, too.

Actually I would consider the center being downfield on the tying touchdown a worse miss by the referees. Actually the calls in this game are no where close to the robjob Nebraska got against Michigan State with a legitimate block on an interception for a touchdown called a PERSONAL FOUL and a good play by a cornerback called interference in the end zone.
