I don’t think it’s selfish. He needs his final year to cement a higher draft position. As it stands right now, he has a better chance in the pro lacrosse league.

I agree with you but I wouldn’t be upset if he left because a RB’s life is so short on the NFL & the younger you are,& healthier, the better & right now Ship is both young & healthy.

Word is he wants to go pr and that it is a done deal unless he gets some bad news about where he would go in the draft. He is hoping to go by the 3rd round. I am not sure what would constitute bad news. Thats personally talking to one of his Dad's best friends and knows the family well. He wants to go pro.

It’s not news that a player wants to go pro. They all have that goal. And all of them have to make a decision based on a draft grade. The news here is that he isn’t interested in transferring elsewhere. Great for him and Clemson.

True. Supposedly he really believes. I guess they all do at times. Confident guy though. I hope he returns, but maybe we air it out more next year though. It will be interesting. I think we have a great year next year no matter what he chooses. I am a fan.

Let it build some curiosity before and after the bowl. What could get interesting is when he announces he's staying, will we have additional transfers. Perhaps mafah,

Combine will have a lot on where he goes in the draft. This years fumbles at the goal line are going to help. But he has the talent to be a serviceable RB in the NFL especially with his pass catching ability.
Im interested to see what his 40, 3 cone drill, vertical are at combine.
My guess in the 40 is 4.52-4.60

Him and Mafah could easily get 15+ touches a piece in a game, we showed we should be a run first team anyway instead of getting so pass happy. This up to the coaches to using your best players correctly

I’ll always pull for all Tigers but this is one that wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all to see him go.
Mafah is the better player and has been for awhile. He needs to get the bulk of the touches and if Ship comes back he will be the one getting the bulk like he always has been.
I honestly don’t think Ship is this huge difference maker. I think he’s a nice back that has some all purpose skills but he’s no game changer like Mafah could be with the majority of the carries.
Ship is definitely a top 3rd/4th round guy. He will be a 3rd down back/specialist at the NFL level.

Ship is what a college football player is supposed to be. It’s what most of them used to be and very few still are. Loyal, dedicated, hardworking, and understands the concept of team. Hope he comes back but pulling for him either way. Proud that he chose to be a Tiger.

Consider what the extra year did for Travis Etienne, establishing him as a short ball receiver in addition to being a great RB. Next year's offense will be different and you could do exactly the same.
Respect your loyalty to Clemson either way.

So the update is nothing has changed.
Reading between the lines a little bit, what I read is Shipley needs a career performance in the Gator Bong to decide to go to the pro's. If the performance is just good and not stellar he stays. If it is fantastic and he fumbles just one time, he stays. A career performance and he takes a shot at the NFL where he would be a 4th or 5th round choice at best. That is not saying anything bad about Shipley, but Rb's are just not in the demand that they used to be.
My opinion, which is like a greasy stinking .... I think that Shipley should stay one more year and press to be used more like a slot receiver and impress scouts with his abilities there (which I believe he has). He is built like an NFL slot receiver and I think that is what he should shoot for.

I believe Will Shipley could really use one more year at Clemson. He could clean up his fumbles and assure scouts he can hang on to the ball, make some other improvements, and his stock would rise.
