Coach Swinney created these expectations

You know why? Because he won at the highest level. I laugh at some of you saying he’s not earning his salary. H e l l he created his salary by winning.
Just a couple years ago schools such as Texas, Tennessee, A&M, and several others spent more money on coaching buyouts than our entire staff made. Pick apart his coaching hires, but remember his staff retention kept us competitive on a national level because coaches weren’t leaving. He was taking ACC money and making those other programs look like fools.
Where do you think the money came from to build not only great football facilities, but the softball program, new gymnastics facility, now yet more money to basketball (40 Mill). Lord knows what else the athletic department is able to payout. 2 Nattys and playoff appearances got the money rolling in.
Don’t bite the hand that has fed this University. Without Coach Swinney winning like he has our AD would be Virginia Tech.

RIF'd or furloughed.
Past performance is no guarantee of future success or job security.
Maybe youre a bureaucrat or still in grad school or both. I dunno. But you're clearly coddled.

Re: Yes He Did Win At The Highest Level ---

At that level or even close to that level is where us fans was expecting to stay .... according to Coach Swinney. At that level we as fans were told by Coach Swinney...the recruits were as advertised and this unit was a championship unit. When Coach Swinney win at the HIGHEST LEVEL AT CLEMSON ....his coaches on the staff were proven coaches. Some were less proven than others but they were household names and the ones that quite wasn't....became so. We at Clemson developed something very rare....but as rare as it was it was consistent....in what we were doing. It was consistent and efficient. Do you remember the names Brent Venables.....Tony Elliott....Jeff Scott??? Those 3 along with Coach Swinney were elite recruiters bringing in elite recruits known nationwide. What we had at Clemson was just the perfect fit and combination of what works for Clemson.
Can you say now or in the past year and a half you see the exact eliteness in offensive production than you may have in the past?? Was Ben Bouleware lying when he said that this team is no where near where his team was when he played??? As far as the fans are concerned...we all have our respective opinions.... with that said we are not stupid and we have eyes on this. As a matter of fact we've had eyes on this program way before half of the fanbase was even born. So yeah...we can tell the difference....we can tell when something is off. I look at this team and look how plays are executed compared how plays were exeucted in the past. Its a difference. And this is just mainly on offense.
The defense was built by Venables with some of the toughest steel and layers of rhino truck lining the best way he knew how. Some of that is slowly scraping off but it will take a little while more before it totally goes away. I hope it never does. We are where we are....and we are struggling to stay elite. I mean we are not even ranked. Its like its said in this business.....Its not the fact that you lose.. its how you lose and who you lose to. Its not about just getting the wins... its how you win and who you beat.
We'll get there eventually.....but not this year. Game 1 of next year won't be a cupcake...but I have to wonder is our offensive coordinator going to be the same guy who got only 7 points in a national championship game....or is Swinney going to regain that passion and hunger with Riley to get back to when ...you know.... when Clemson looked like a team taking the nation by storm?

I can’t dispute much of what you’re saying. If you go back to my OP it’s about the so called fans saying he he’s not earning his salary. The man generated enough revenue to keep us in contention.
What you just posted is a completely different discussion.

I do believe totally Swinney has earned his salary. Somewhere in between as more money generates periodically....is the new money or updated money for what he has done or is it for what is expected for him to accomplish?? I for one don't know the structures or stipulations of Swinney's contract.

he's not earning his dang salary.
You talk about generating enough revenue to keep em in contention.
How about generating enough wins to keep em in contention? Or at least enough to keep em in content into October?
By Jan. 9, the second highest paid coach in the land wont have gotten to within a mile of CFP in three seasons.
(And enough about "culture." $12M/year is put up or shutup money.)

…sounds good. For you. Do you ever step back and see yourself through the eyes of others? Rhetorical question there.

Dabo will sustain the success he’s achieved in the past or he will retire. Regardless, he was phenomenal at Clemson.
