Flying in for graduation. Have done ATL and GSP lately but not CLT. Is it still a mess?

Gaffney to Spartanburg is awful...the portion through Blacksburg is much better (at least on the NB side).

Guaranteed.

Still a lot of construction...

The section of I-85 through Blacksburg is not great but it is getting better. The portion that runs from Gaffney to Spartanburg is still a mess. The traffic jams are pretty hit and miss depending on how many idiots are on the road.

Still a lot of construction but a lot probably depends on the day and time. We went from Easley to Charlotte on Friday afternoon before the ACCCG and back on Sunday and had no problems.

I drove it Sunday after the ACC champ game and it was fine. It all depends on day/time you make the trip.

I travel the Spartanburg to Gaffney route several times a week, and it is just like all have said. Use a driving App (I prefer Waze) to help you navigate alternate routes when accidents/back-up/congestion occurs.

I85 between GVL and Charlotte is vying for the title of Crappiest and Longest lasting construction traffic jam of all time with I26 between Hendersonville and Asheville.

The time it’s taking on both of those projects is astounding. I’m surprised no one has demanded an audit of those two projects to see what is taking so long. The SC project is especially frustrating when you go weeks without seeing any major work being done and sporadically see a couple guys with shovels 30 miles apart. Really odd.

I’m headed down to Greenville today to see some family pre Christmas. I will just say it’s not good. Noticed improvements on the northern portion of the project but traveling through there takes patience. It has gotten to be where I cannot remember what is was like before this mess started. Not sure many of us will live long enough to reap the benefits at the rate they are going. In all fairness that’s a huge project and they will get it all done one day!
