Given the rich history and tradition of Clemson football, the following pertain to the expectations of the Clemson Nation:
1. The Clemson Nation expects that all Clemson football coaches understand that coaching football at Clemson is not a job -- it is a sacred trust.
2. The Clemson Nation expects that its football players will be recruited in accordance with university and NCAA rules.
3. The Clemson Nation expects to have an undefeated football season every year. These expectations notwithstanding, and understanding the realities and vagaries of college football, a high percentage of games won each year is an imperative.
4. In a football season comprising 11 games, the Clemson Nation expects winning them all, but not less than 8 games.
5. In a football season comprising 12 games, the Clemson Nation expects winning them all, but not less than 9 games.
6. The Clemson Nation will not tolerate a losing football season under any circumstances. In terms of Clemson football, a 6-5 or 7-5 record is considered to be a losing season.
7. The Clemson Nation expects the Clemson football team to compete in a bowl game every year.
8. The Clemson Nation fully expects that opposing football teams will fear playing in Death Valley. We expect "Death" to be restored to Death Valley.
9. The Clemson Nation expects the Clemson football team to be fully competitive in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
10. Within the coming decade, the Clemson Nation fully expects the Clemson football team to win several ACC titles and be competitive in BCS standings.
11. The Clemson Nation expects that salaries will be sufficient to attract and retain top-caliber football coaches.
12. The Clemson Nation expects football facilities to be equal to or better than those at other outstanding football programs.
13. Conference play notwithstanding, the Clemson Nation expects that Clemson fans, players, coaches and the administration understand that the University of South Carolina (USC) football team is Clemson's archrival.
14. Concerning quality football players, and on an annual basis, the Clemson Nation expects Clemson to out-recruit USC, in-state and out of state.
15. Noting that Clemson has been victorious in 60% of football games against USC in the past 99 games, the Clemson Nation holds that this percentage is too low and must be improved in the current century.
16. Noting that USC has been victorious in 36% of football games against Clemson in the past 99 games, the Clemson Nation holds that this percentage is too high and must be lowered in the current century.
17. The Clemson Nation expects the Clemson football team to be victorious over USC in every game. These expectations nothwithstanding, and understanding the realities and vagaries of college football, the Clemson Nation will not tolerate more than three losses to a USC team in any decade.
18. The Clemson Nation expects that Clemson fans, football players, coaches and the administration will give maximum support to Clemson University and its football program.
