Clemson Day at Denver Downs Corn Maze Sunday Oct 21

Oct 15, 2012, 2:29 PM

Denver Downs Farm’s 2012 Corn Maze and Giant Pumpkin Patch will host Clemson Day at the Maze on Sun., Oct. 21. On that day, $2 of each ticket purchased by a Clemson alumnus, student or faculty member will be donated to the Clemson Fund.
A favorite regional event year after year, the 2012 Denver Downs Corn Maze was featured during the Oct. 6 Clemson-GA Tech football game broadcast live on ESPN. The annual family fall festival celebrates South Carolina’s farming history and Denver Downs Farm’s designation as a Century Farm. Sponsored by The Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, the 2012 Corn Maze & Giant Pumpkin Patch celebrates and commemorates the GHS centennial with the hospital system's logo cut into the center of the 10-acre maze.
In addition to the Corn Maze & Giant Pumpkin Patch, this year's lineup of activities includes all-time favorites like cornball volley, corn cannon, goat walk, children's zip-line, hayrides and bonfires. New for 2012 is a Giant Jumping Pillow. During Clemson Day at the Maze, the Clemson Tiger will make a special appearance at 3 p.m.
The 2012 Denver Downs Corn Maze & Giant Pumpkin Patch is open through November 4 at Denver Downs Farm, 4915 Clemson Boulevard (Hwy. 76) in Anderson, one mile north of Interstate 85. Event hours are: Wed. 3 p.m.-9 p.m.; Fri. 5 p.m.-10 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sun. 1 p.m.-6 p.m. The Maze is open for field trips and groups Monday through Friday before 3 p.m.
Admission is $12 per person on weekends and $9 per person on Wednesdays. Children 24 months and under may enter at no charge. Discounted rates are offered for groups of 25 or more.
No reservations are needed for large groups attending on weekends or on Wednesdays. Reservations are required for school field trips and pre-school groups.
Denver Downs Farm is a South Carolina Century Farm owned and operated by the Garrison family of Anderson County SC since 1869. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Denver Downs was established as a cotton farm, transitioned to a dairy farm, and today is a working farm devoted to agri-tourism. The annual Corn Maze & Giant Pumpkin Patch is an opportunity to share the rich heritage of farming and the importance agriculture plays in our everyday lives, organizers say.
